Default Ct : tint question

Hey guys.. And a few girls

Where is a trusted place to have our corvettes tinted in ct or western mass... I don't mind traveling to have a good job done... I have heard our back windows can be tricky.

Thanks!!!

I've had my 6 cars and my past 3 Vettes done at The Tint Man in Monroe, CT. They do excellent work. The dot matrix junk can make that part of the rear window tricky and while it isn't perfect, it's barely noticeable and far better than many others I've seen at car shows. I believe they very slightly sanded that area to help the tint adhere better.

If you do I may consider joining the party. Maybe 2 is cheaper than one. Also, they can practice on your car first before they do mine

Does not Ct. have laws about percentage of tint on windows ? Better check for front and side and back.

I like it ... Jake on the windows ... maybe no tint for the Jake on the driver door window - then I can put my face there and be Jake.

Sides can't be darker than 35%. Rear can be as dark as you want. I run 35% sides and 20% rear and it looks good. 20% sides would be better, but I have enough reasons to get pulled over as it is. However, I know a few Vette owners with dark tints that never have a problem. Probably just luck.

When I had my car done in 2008 I believe the cost was $190, not sure if it's gone up or not.

Bill;

Thanks for the follow up info. I don't think I would want my windshield done.

No issues with window indexing or cleaning the windows that are tinted, right?

Do you know anyone by name there?

About how long to get the sides and back glass done? Something you could wait for?

Thanks again...

I've never done a windshield, pretty sure any windshield tint at all is illegal anyway though.

Nope, windows are just as easy to clean and use as they were before, never had an issue with anything like that.

I'm 99% sure the owner's name is Jimmy, but it's been a few years since I've been there, very nice guy.

They have a couch there, takes about 3-4 hours. There is a Duchess and Dunkin Donus within walking distance if you're looking for a bite and some coffee while you wait as well.

Ty for the tip. I contacted him..

Said about 225... Said back wont be perfect but no one can .. Says no one can do it better.. 5hour wait and yes we can sit and relax while they do it

Is it a clean facility? I always worry about people scratching the car lol...

Although I haven't gotten any other chimes here... Guess this would be my best option

Also like you said back can be whatever. Fronts have to be 35 percent. They do look killer on a vett though.

I did a quick search and it appears some customers have had issues:

it's a 5min drive from Etown

I just bought my 7th Z06 and pretty sure this is the first one that does not have the windows done, sonofagun

Tinted windshield is the best. I do ally cars and live it. My Z06 currently has 20% on the rear and doors and 35% on the windshield.
Car looks killer and it's nice to not have to wear sunglasses all the time.

I have em done at that place in east Windsor. It came out ok. He had some issues with his hand and I didn't want to argue. I would be more critical on this car... I'm suprised we don't have a top quality place. I feel like I should open such a shop lol

Wherever you do decide to go be wary of cheapo priced tint jobs. If you can go with a good quality 3M product. Most of those cheap $99 tint jobs turn purple or worse over time. I spent $180 for the two side windows on my 87 coupe. FYI: cool:

The back window on my 87 was done by the previous owner back in 1992 and still looks fantastic. It cost him $225 back then . I believe its done in three peices but I cant tell on mine.... Your right though....go for the best quality . I had mine done by "Auto Image" in Brick NJ. There are other locations in NJ as well.
