I've been chasing around C5's and 6's for years now on all these runs we do..no C4's show up, well Tom does when he can with his Z, but where are all the rest. Car shows and parking lot meets are Ok but these things are meant to be driven...I've tried in the past to get C4 runs going but no luck..any interest???

I've noticed that in CT too. I haven't driven my 89 convertible since last Sept. Hard to pick the 89 when I have an 06Z ready to go. Thanks for the reminder. I'll get the 89 out next weekend.

C4's to the back of the bus!
Sorry that I have been absent so much lately. I didn't intend for you to carry the banner alone Ira. I'll pay more attention in the future!
Cool on the rear! Put a set of headers on her...that will wake up the old girl! You know that rear is good, right? Also, when you do the transplant you know that is the time to sort out the rear suspension: check shocks, new bushings, or new suspension pieces....hint: DRM or Banski or VB&P.
You have a garage? It would take me some time but I would offer to help you if you want to do this project at home. I've done a complete rear restoration when I had my 72 LT-1....yea I know, you're gonna say that's a different generation! It isn't that different, just more links on the 4 vs the 3 & no control arms on the 4. Oh, and the carrier is different too, C3 early = Eaton and the C4 = Dana, but the guts don't change much. You have a FSM for your year? What year is the rear you bought? I can think of ways to spend your money. This would be an excellent winter project if the rear is used. I'd never just toss a used rear in any car without at least opening it for a look see. I know I just ruined your day.
I found a place out on the island who can spruce it up and put it in for about 5 -6 hundred..its got some miles on it so I want new bearings and seals..I was going to do this next year but it popped up so I figure what the hell. The rear suspension is another story. The garage I found is just for storage, and it just fits the car. What I need to do is put up a car port at my GF's house where all my tools are..Going to get it done after I come back from Florida at the end of the month..its a 3.07 so it should be just about right for the kind of driving I do..and if its not enough I can always move up to a 3.45...it will be here thursday...
They will only be able to use 300 HP in the NY metro area. Last time I took my C4 on a run with 400-700hp C5-6's I had no problem even when they let 'em rip. Unless they get a long open stretch of highway you're good.
Oh..they use it..I can just keep their tail lights in site..My strategy..when they slow down..I speed up..works great and we end up at the same place eventually...I need to do some suspension sprucing up..probably start with bushings, like the Banski parts as well but not sure how the spherical ends hold up for street use, even with the covers you can get for them..I would be more interested in making the car handle better than throwing a boat load of cash to make it faster..suspensions are easier and somewhat cheaper..
Ira, make sure they rebuild the clutch pack for the posi, new clutches and mind the stub axles if they have wear on the machined shoulder that goes thru the side bearings get new axles and check that the clips don't have too much play. You did get a D44 right? Why don't you just buy 3.45 gears....I mean it will be apart...well almost anyway.
VB & P told me that their spherical ends are not intended for the street. We have a few members of my ZR-1 group that have done the Banski spherical kits w/covers and I'm waiting to see some long term wear results before I spend the cash on those. Most of the guys did the Banski stuff plus coil over conversions as a total remake.
I didn't get a 44..too much work, money..got this rear cheap and will have it rebuilt.Want to see how I like the 3.07 as I like highway driving and the 3.45's buzz it up pretty high..I can always change gears later. The 36 should hold up fine with my measly 300 hp..
