I got a very small crack in my windshield this morning. I'm in the Lansdale area and was thinking of calling either Alderfer Glass or Safelite to fix it. Just wondering if anyone has any experinece with either company, or another suggestion. TIA

Consumer Reports just did a small survey for windshield repair providers & Safelite came out on top. Keep in mind that the business is a franchise, so results depend upon the skill & care of the local tech.
i had my c5's windshield replaced by safelite here in hbg. and it was a perfect job. i wouldn't hesitate to use them, but i would ask if they have a technician with experience on vettes.
If the damage is not in your major line of sight, then an acrylic repair will stop the damage from spreading in temperature extremes or shock, allowing you to keep the windshield.
If it is where you will see often you might want to think about replacing it.
Most safelite repair shops and others offer a guarntee that if you are not pleased with the results of the repair, they will appy the repair cost to the repalacment, so you have nothing to lose attempting the repair first.

Reason: spelling
It's just a small crack, pebble size, low and in the center of the windshield. I actually didn't even see it at first when I heard the stone hit it. So I'm figuring whatever they do to fill it in will suffice.

Agreed!
Most places will even fix it at your location; Don't wait! It can get bigger.
GL.
I've had repairs done twice on windshields in recent years. Even though the repairs on both cars were not in my direct line of sight, I knew where they were and my eyes were often drawn to them. Both were lease returns so I knew I didn't have to live with them, but I don't think I'd do it again.
If the insurance company is involved and will go for it I'd just replace the windshield. These guys do it all the time, and I can't remember the last time I've had a problem with a replacement windshield installation.
We bought my wifes car brand new. On the way home from the dealer a truck kicked up a huge stone and chipped the windsheild.
We called Safelite. They came and were on time and filled the crack. They told us there was a chance it could still spread and if it did they would apply the money we already spent towards new glass. Well about 3 days later it got worse and we called and paid the difference for the windshield. Guy came on time and did the install. We looked the car over when he was done. Her paint was scraped badly from his tools and it looks like he dropped the wiper arm as the pant was scraped really bad. Normally something like this wouldn't matter but the car was only a week old. They ordered the new one but wouldn't do anything about the paint.
First big rain storm it leaked. Called again and they came out to replace it again. Guy was an hour late and didn't call. He dropped the screw for the wiper arm in the engine bay. Didn't tell us until an hour later when I asked him if he was almost done. Ended up having to jack the car up and feel arround with a magnet til we found it and then he actually started the repair work.
The new one doesn't have any problems. Safelite can be good but def check reviews for the local dealer in your area though.
I went to Alderfer Glass. It's a few minutes away from me, was $80 bucks and they were done in 45 minutes. Looks good. I still notice it, but I just wanted to make sure it didn't get worse.
I didn’t see a picture from the OP that’s is definitely damage from prior windshield replacement, I thought he , from the description, has the foam peeling and cracking which is usual. I see a C5 post here but on a C4 the header weatherstrip SHOULD be replaced with windshield - insurance pays for it because it is a requirement per Chevrolet, but I know it is not always done.

I owned a P&C insurance agency for 35 years and have been retired for 16 years.
Safelite has been doing wind shield repairs and replacement for over 45 years.
They replace windshields on both a C6 and C7 for me and I have never had a problem with their repairs.
Most dealerships and auto repair shops sub out windshield repair to a glass company 95% of the time.
I have two chip repairs, and one oval crack in the windshield of my 2015 coupe. If I get the windshield replaced, it will just get more chips. It seems to be the way it is, on the Houston roads.
So far, all the repairs have held up well.

Repair is as good as the idiot attempting the job! He made mine worse... Then walked away.
