I think it is time to have a generator installed. I have been debating it for a few years, but long power outages don't happen very often where I live.

We got power back today at 4:30pm. Lots of others still don't. I started a thread geared towards NJ volunteers. I'm volunteering tomorrow morning, we're all in this together. This is local, home, NJ, USA, not some far off land. These are our co-workers, friends, fellow parkway/turnpike work day, rush hour travelers. Lets go folks, home team calling.

We became trapped in FL and could not get home to Long Beach in time.

Unfortunately, the Vette is totalled along with my wife's CRV. Thankfully our condo is intact but all of our utilities and personal stuff on the ground floor is shot. Water was 2ft in the garage.

I work and have an apt in NYC... made it off the island just before the trains and bridges shut down. Came to Gettysburg and haven't been back since. Don't need to go, so I'm staying put in the country for now.
Hope everyone is faring okay.

Sorry to hear about your water damage. I saw some pictures of Long Beach, the damage unbelievable!! It looks like most of the coastal towns got hit hard. My sister lives in Lindenhurst and her area is an absolute disaster area!!

Still no power and no heat. I'm at my son's house on his computer. All of our utilities are underground and LIPA's transformer, which is on my proprty, was under a foot and a half of salt water. After 8 days of no power and waiting for relief, a LIPA rep informed us yesterday that our house had to be be inspected before they will do anything. On a positive note, nobody got hurt, and the 'Vette and the TTA were safe and sound in the garage on higher ground.
I'll post again when I get power back....whenever that is. As uncomfortable and inconvenient as it is for us, there are alot of people enduring some real hardships right now. Best wishes to all
Jim
