It went very well. Chuck picked me up and we rode in together.

There were about 2,000 people there ( guess ) and at least 100 signs, banners, flags. Many speakers. Some open carry. No opposition. Troopers on grounds and on top of capital building. No confrontations. Orderly. Did not see news folks. Stayed for 2 hours, standing on pavement. Some women and children there. Cold.

Glad I went.

Exactly the same thing in Albany. ONE local news truck. Lots of women and children and numerous state senators and assembymen. Cold and windy but well worth the visit.

All of a sudden everyone is a flag waiving American..... Civilians don't need to have guns... It's 2013... not 1813....

Yea, so you have a gun, a guy breaks into your home, you shoot him, you spend your life savings on defense lawyers so you don't go to jail, then the burglar sues you in civil court, now you spend more money on lawyers

No, I think better said, man breaks into your house. You grab you automatic assault rifle that you keep on your night stand, load the 30+ round clip, then go downstairs and shoot up your house and kill your dog and cat. Man who broke into your home gets away thru back door.

Keep your hand guns, rifles and shotguns, but why do you need and automatic military type assault weapon ?

Sorry I brought this up, because car forums are no place to discuss gun control.

"Yea, so you have a gun, a guy breaks into your home, you shoot him, you spend your life savings on defense lawyers so you don't go to jail, then the burglar sues you in civil court, now you spend more money on lawyers."

I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

"Keep your hand guns, rifles and shotguns, but why do you need and automatic military type assault weapon ? "

1. The U.S Government said it is a good idea:.....The United States Department of Homeland Security has stated a rifle chambered in 5.66 NATO ( compatible with .223 ) with a magazine capacity of 30 rounds is...." suitable for personal defense use in close quarters..."

2. Law enforcement has access to personal defense weapons or patrol rifles with 30 rounds magazines. Law enforcement usually responds AFTER an event or tragedy carrying patrol rifles. If they need them, why would it be unreasonable for us to use them for self defense.

3. In stressful shooting situations, most studies show "hit rates" of less than 50%. A New York Times article from Dec 200 noted the hit rate for law enforcement in the city was 17.4 % in 2005 and 28.3 % in 2006. Los Angeles law enforcement shot placement was better than New York's in 2006 with a 40% hit rate. Keep in mind these were law enforcement officers that practice alot.

4. A civilian that is involved in a home invasion has a high strss level. It is reasonable to assume you would run out of ammunition quickly if limited to 10 rounds
or less. This situation would be aggrivated in the case of multiple attackers.

5. Low hit rates combined with the fact that 1,2,3,4 hits on an attacker may not stop the threat makes a strong case to have high capacity magazines. A 250 pound
animal, high on coke, with evil intent, is a hard animal to bring down.

6. The second amentment is very clear and has been supported by the supreme court. "........the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL not be infringed." This is a RIGHT and not a privilage ; the word SHALL is a very powerful word in legalese and leaves zero doubt on the intension. The 2nd amendment is part of the 10 amendents of the Bill of Rights. It was a close call that our constitution was in fact approved and passed. The reason it was is because a deal was struck whereby the anti-federlalist agreed to sign on IF upon the first meeting of congress they were promised amendments would be included that highlighted and secured individual rights. When all is said and done, the second amendment guarantees all others. So........assult rifles ( misnomer) are not baned by the second amendment. Once you start tinkering and eliminating the RIGHTS of Americans, this is the first step down the slippery slope. We fought the British for our freedoms.....don't want to have fight an oppressive gov't again.

so tired of these gun "addicts".
They where created for one purpose, to kill! period.
There's too many of them and they are treated like some type of cool accesory in todays society, like the new iPhone or Jordan sneakers!
If we need insurance, testing, ID's etc to get a car...thats the miminum you need for a handgun (assulat weapons go the way of the Do-Do!!)

The second ammendmant wasn't designed to stop a home invasion OR hunt ducks. Rather it is the final "check and balance" against a gov. gone bad. If you have eyes, ears and a brain, you'd be buying all the guns and ammo you could...now.

You should also outfit your kids with guns - that way they'll be able to be safe at school and wherever they go.
And think how it would stop bullying also ?!
Send your kid to school packing with real six guns.
Perfect solution !?

I was taught to use and respect guns at a young age.

That being said i knew school wasnt the place for.guns. post dismissal fights....had a bunch of those, you win some you lose some. Problem these days are the majority of parents are wimps and have forced that down the throats of their children. If you ran your mouth you better be willing to back it up. Not the case now with everyone hugging everyone. So now all the weirdos (yes all of these school shootings were done by weirdos) hit their breaking point and try to do something the media will blow out of proportion to out do the previous weirdos.

Just sounds like a silly liberal argument this nation was founded with guns and shall be preserved with the same.

I'm working on it.

I think I've convinced both girls to get either a pink 38 snubby or a S & W .32 Magnum J-Frame Model 432 PD Airweight 6-shot snubby. What do you think ?

Isn't it amazing!! Mention the preservation of The Constitution and particularly the Second Amendment, and all the haters/jokers/misinformed/unenlightened magically appear.
