I'd be inclined to go to a body shop and the frame replaced.

Do you have a C5 or 6?
I have a vert frame with a so-so top on it from a C5-black that I dont think I will use anymore so it's available.

Do you have comprehensive coverage? If you do it will be covered minus your deductible.

I would question your agent, I represent 8 companies and none of them will increase rates due to a comp claim.

c5 'vert tops--wicked expensive.
the rear defroster tab broke once on my '99 'vert and dealer said no can fix/re-braze, must buy whole new unit. thanks gm, great design. at the time, it was a 3500 or so job. i argued with them about coverage under warranty, which after a lot of back & forth they ultimately honored.
but man, i feel your pain with the cost of c5 'vert issues. not cheap by any stretch.

Allstate does not increase premiums due to comp claims, time for a new agent and company.

I was told from one installer that usually vertible tops should be changed every 7 years due to dry rot or fading, has anyone else heard of this?

Maybe if it sat out in the FL sun for 7 years and you did not put any protection on it.

Sorry to hear. I dont see why your ins. Would not honor it. If your rear glass shatter/broke the ins. pays for a new top. (Wink, wink)this is a one pice unit. The issue is that your frame is bent not sure if that will be covered. I have and issue with my top. Bow #4 drive side there's this nut a union bolt that allows the top to fold. I figured i can pick it up anywhere. But No people are asking price is 400 or better. Have you tried corvette service in valley stream. Or even corvette unlimited in Babylon?
Good luck.
