Default Ouch

Buffoon runs into the Torch Z today in a parking lot.

No injuries; car runs. Driver's side rear fender, kick panel (or whatever it is called) are cracked, and door has a tiny bit of paint scraped off.

Got an estimate from a Liberty Mutual-approved body shop for a replacement fender, repair or replace the kick panel, respray, etc. Obviously I am out the $500 deductible, unless LM can persuade the buffoon's company that she was at fault (no witnesses, no LEO as it was on a parking lot, so chances are about zero). This is a real good shop, but they are not that experienced in Vettes and would lose no sleep if I went elsewhere.

So, question is, can anybody recommend a decent shop in the West Chester/Wilmington area that might be able to do a good/affordable job? The car is a DD so I do not need the show-quality (and expensive) work I would get from County Corvette.

Thanks in advance for suggestions...

Sorry to hear of it, Fred.
Before I bought my Vette, I had a guy hit my 1980 Benz 450sl in a parking lot. TFS Body shop did the work. The place looks like an old warehouse from the outside. They had at least one Vette in there when my car was there. I was VERY pleased with the work. Call Matt Bowe at 302-761-9969.
Glad no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear about the damage. At least the fender will be a bolt on replacement so if you can't get a good recommendation, give the approved place a shot.

Fred: I'd still try County Corvette and see if Liberty Mutual will approve. You're out the $500 and their recommended shop is not Corvette experienced. There's OK and then there is done right.

I spoke with County and they said they could go to bat for me with LM. I am leaning that way...

I had my car towed out of the insurance company's approved shop and had it towed to the shop of my choice (insurance coverd it all)

It is -- I just wasn't sure whether I'd get resistance if I took it to a "quality" shop and they needed to charge more than the LM-approved shop's quote. Based on all the feedback I got today from this Forum and other sources, I am confident I can go to a high-quality shop and still be out only my deductible. Liberty Mutual sent a note today saying they are going after the other party's insurance company to get my deductible recovered. I am not, however holding my breath...

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR ADVICE....

Nice thing about the C5/6, rear quarters come off in about 20mins

I've got red and black C5Z06/FRC driver's quarters in stock, but pretty sure they are still in production from GM and LM will pay for new
