Default South Jersey Premiere of The Quest & Boardwalk Corvette Show

Please mark your calendars for this special event. It will be taking place Sunday September 22nd at the Ocean City Music Pier in Ocean City, NJ. It will follow the Boardwalk Corvettes of Atlantic City Club's Corvettes on the Boardwalk show. This is the first time The Quest will be shown in New Jersey or the greater Philadelphia area. This movie wether you're a Corvette lover or not will really touch your heart.

Lance Miller will have the 1960 Le Mans Corvette at the movie premiere for everyone to check out first hand. Kevin McKay, Chip's dear friend who found the car for him and restored it back to it's Le Mans racing pedigree & Michael Brown the Oscar nominated Director that made this film will all be on hand for this event.

The schedule is as follows:

5:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Car will be on display

6:00 pm to 7:30 pm - THE QUEST

7:45 pm to 8:30 pm - Meet and Greet with Lance, Kevin & Michael.

(free parking will be available at the 5th street parking lot on the beach)

THE QUEST chronicles the beginnings of Corvette Racing at the famed Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race in France. Corvettes first appeared there in June of 1960.

The film re-caps that historic race and what happened to both the Corvettes and their drivers.

Following the race, all the Corvettes were lost for decades.

Collectors, restorers and enthusiasts came to recognize the historical significance of these cars, and an undercurrent of frantic searching for them was put into motion.

Corvettes at Carlisle co-founder Chip Miller set a personal goal of finding the 1960 class-winning #3 Corvette, acquiring it, and restoring it. Finally, he wanted to return it to Le Mans in 2010, with one of the original drivers, legendary racer John Fitch, to mark the 50th anniversary of the car’s win.

But a chain of heartbreaking events prevented Chip Miller from completing his vision.

THE QUEST reveals a series of sub-stories that all feed into the emotional tale of a son doing what he felt compelled to do in honoring his father’s wish.

Told by many of the people directly involved, THE QUEST uses archival materials
to weave a story never told in its entirety...until now.

CHIP MILLER
Co-Founder of Corvettes at Carlisle, Chip Miller’s dream of finding and acquiring the class-winning #3 Cunningham Corvette from the 1960 Le Mans race in France is the core story featured in THE QUEST. He had hoped to return the car to Le Mans in 2010 to mark the 50th anniversary of its historic win. Though close to his goal in 2003, his dream was cut short by a rare disease called amyloidosis.

LANCE MILLER
Chip’s only son shared a unique bond with his father. Having grown up seeing his father’s passion for cars and specifically Corvettes, Lance Miller fully understood why his father’s dream was so important to him. And he instinctively knew what he had to do to honor his father’s wish, when his father could no longer achieve it on his own.

KEVIN MACKAY
A renowned Corvette restorer and tenacious searcher for lost historic Corvettes, Kevin Mackay’s close friendship with Chip Miller was the key to locating the long-lost #3 Cunningham Corvette from the 1960 race at Le Mans. And when he could no longer help Chip Miller with his quest, he helped Chip’s son to fulfill his father’s dream.

JOHN FITCH
A living legend from the international racing circuit, John Fitch was one of the two drivers of the class-winning #3 Corvette at Le Mans in 1960. His ability to drive the car in a pouring rain is the ‘right stuff’ of racing tales and history. When it came time to fulfill Chip Miller’s dream of returning the Corvette to Le Mans for a 50th anniversary ceremonial lap, there was only one choice for the person behind the wheel...then 92 year old John Fitch.

Please help spread the word because this is going to be a special evening with some incredible people!

This is VERY exciting news, as it's a very rare opportunity to meet everyone involved with the film and the car.

The 2014 New Jersey Corvette Caravan Team will be at the showing to support one of our great sponsors; Carlisle Events and the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation.

Be sure to spread the word about this event. It's gonna be a GREAT Corvette day and night!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 22, 2013

South Jersey Premiere Of THE QUEST Movie On September 22nd
Features Ocean City Native Lance Miller

Ocean City, NJ— Ocean City native Lance Miller returns to the town where he grew up to attend a special screening of THE QUEST documentary, an emotional story about the history of Corvette racing and his father’s dream. This event takes place following the Boardwalk Corvette Show on Sunday, September 22nd at the Ocean City Music Pier on the Boardwalk. The historic 1960 #3 Corvette featured in the film will be on display at 5:00 p.m., followed by the screening at 6:00 p.m. and a Meet & Greet with the filmmakers at 7:45 p.m.

THE QUEST chronicles the beginnings of Corvette Racing at the famed Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race in France in 1960. Following the race, all the Corvettes that participated in this race were lost for decades. Because of the historical significance of these cars, many tried to find them. His vision was tragically cut short by a rare disease called amyloidosis.

While THE QUEST reveals the story behind the historic race and what happened to the cars in that race, it is really a story about best friends, a unique bond between a father and a son. Sharing his father’s passion for Corvettes and racing, Lance Miller knew what he had to do to honor his father’s wish, when his father could no longer achieve it on his own.

In 2004, just a few short months after Chip was diagnosed with Amyloidosis, the world lost an incredibly special human being. Had Chip and his doctors been aware of the symptoms of the disease when they first presented, this legend might still be with us today. At that time, family and friends founded the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation (CMCF) to empower people with the knowledge and understanding of Amyloidosis for earlier detection, ensuring a better quality of life for those afflicted with the disease and to help science find the cures. This screening of THE QUEST and many others across the country benefit the foundation.

“Bringing THE QUEST to my amazing hometown of Ocean City means so much to me, “said Lance Miller, CMCF Board President. “Each summer, the Ocean City community comes together at an annual Surf Fest to support our foundation in our mission to raise awareness of Amyloidosis. I’m so grateful for this continual outpouring of support from the community. Mayor Jay Gillian and the City of Ocean City continue to be very supportive and it’s truly a privilege to be part of a community that gives back.”

It is a unique opportunity to see the 1960 Le Mans Corvette on display at the movie premiere. Kevin McKay, Chip's dear friend who found the car for him and restored it back to its Le Mans racing pedigree, as well as Michael Brown, the Oscar nominated Director that made this film, will be at the meet and greet for this event.

Tickets are just $20 and all proceeds go to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. Tickets can be purchased online at http://chipmiller.org/th_event/the-quest-documentary/. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door. This special event is presented by The Jeff Quintin Real Estate Team, Copiers Plus, The City of Ocean City and Boardwalk Corvettes of Atlantic City.

For more information about ‘The Quest’ screening, visit www.chipmiller.org or contact Nick Bricker at themush@comcast.net or 609-231-1562.

About the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation
The mission of the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation is to empower people with the knowledge and understanding of amyloidosis for earlier detection, ensuring a better quality of life for those afflicted with the disease and to help science find the cure. The organization was founded in memory of Chip Miller, who sadly passed away from the rare disease amyloidosis in March of 2004. The foundation was formed shortly thereafter to help spread awareness of this disease and raise money for educational and research purposes. The goal of the foundation is for earlier diagnosis to affect better treatment outcomes. If Chip Miller and his doctors were aware of the symptoms of amyloidosis when they first presented, he may still be with us today. For more information visit www.chipmiller.org or follow the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation on Facebook.

About Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis occurs when abnormal protein, called amyloid, builds up in one or more organs to cause a malfunction. As an abnormal protein, amyloid originates in bone marrow. The heart, kidneys, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract are most often affected by the disease. Signs and symptoms depend on the organs affected. The wide range of symptoms makes it difficult to diagnose.
