Thanks Bro. Here is just a taste if what we will experience:
The New England, Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic and New Jersey Caravans are all taking different routes when we depart Carlisle, but NE, PA & NJ will re-group just outside of Bowling Green on Wednesday to form a Mega-Caravan. Then it's a State Police escort into the NCM, oh and the KY State Trooper vehicle will be a brand new Corvette Stingray.
For me it started Thursday August 21 with the drive to Corvettes at Carlisle (Frank was chasing me all the way in his new C7). Then joined the other three Northern CT Posse guys (Jeff, Dave and Marcel + the better half's) along with the New England Caravan in Gettysburg Sunday. Sunday Frank rode back to CT. From Gettysburg the Caravan went on some great roads for a couple of days making it to the National Corvette Museum Wednesday August 27. We went on the Corvette Plant tour and saw C7 Z06's on the assembly line. We also hit the new Motorsports track - we didn't see any pace car for our group and had a blast. Sunday August 31 one Posse member (Marcel) took a different route home while Jeff, Dave and I headed for the Tail of the Dragon! Glad we did! From there we drove to Virginia where Jeff split off for a family visit. Dave and I arrived home Tuesday around 5 pm. 2600 total miles for me and a great time every day.
Glad you guys had a safe trip! I love the dragon, I've only done it on 2 wheels. Next time if you get a chance do the Moonshine 28 run and the cherohala skyway.
2600 miles...that would have cost me around $1100 in gas alone in the mighty big block...one day I'll make it to Bowling Green when the kiddos are bigger and I can bring my wife (she was born in Bowling Green and her mom grew up there so I know she wants to go back).
Wow, what a great trip! Glad your all home safe. I like seeing three familiar Vettes cutting that famous twisty down to size...bet there a video in the making since Jeff had his GoPro's doing double duty....
Let me add a big WOW!!! for this trip. It was a blast, and sharing with fellow Posse friends was a bonus. Great stops along the way, a nice twisty back road stretch in the West Virginia mountains. The sight of 146 cars out of Danbury and 400+ cars for the final entry into Bowling Green was simply awesome. Museum, plant tour and the Motor Sports Park hot laps...what can I say. Still have the grin.
