Frank,
I have lived in Stewartsville for 7 years now and for the first 6 years all was well with UPS
& me and now I can't seem to get anything delivered to my house. I leave large signs saying
"UPS DRIVER, PLEASE LEAVE PACKAGE ON PORCH" and today they refuse to deliver an idiotic
$40 dollar item. If you have ever been to Stewartsville you know what a "high crime" area it
is  and they can't leave a $40 dollar item on my porch. I spend twice that on beer a week!!
Sorry Frank but if you know how I can get this guy to deliver without me being home , please
clue me in. Anybody else having this problem????
My sister-in-law lives on Megan Ct in Stewartsville. That is one tough neighborhood. I heard not to long ago that someone was caught J-Walking in the huge town center. I wouldn't live there. Hell, when I go visit the in-laws I bring a water pistol (with a gallon of extra water) in case of any trouble.
If the package requires your signature, he can't just leave it on the porch. He must get you to sign before he can deliver it. If it doesn't require a sig, then I have no idea.
#1, the shipper may have requested a signature, there is a certain code in the barcode that won't allow us to leave a package under any circumstance unless we actually forge your signature(illegal).
#2, same as above except that the shipper by accident hit the wrong key and shipped it as sig required.
#3 if it's any type of medicine or drugs, it's not supposed to be left, but every situation is different(we have regulars who we have an agreement with).
#4 a new driver on the route, maybe he doesn't want to take any chances.
#5 the less packages we deliver(but attempt), the more we start out with the next day, therefore, they have to remove other work from the truck.
#6 driver is just being a schmo.
#7 the heat got to him/her and he didn't know what he was doing.
#8 if it's anything related to computers or electronic equipment or jewelry, we can't leave it.
One more thing Jim, if you happen to be around when he comes, just ask if he's the regular driver, if he is, you can probably work something out.
If he's just filling in, then you can still work something out.
The only other reason I can think of for not leaving a package is if you ever had any claims recently, UPS will blacklist you and you'll never get another delivery without someone signing for it.
This happens quite often in Lakewood(right Kevin?)
A package gets left at the front door, somebody steals it(sometimes even the addressee). If UPS ever had to pay for a package that disappeared from your address, then that would explain it.
If not (and I know you well enough), I would just flag the driver down, offer him a cold drink and talk to him.
Frank,
I think it's #4. :smash: This guy has been on the route for sometime now. We never had a claim but in April a package came a few weeks before my B'day. Jim brought it in and opened it. Seeing it was a gift for me he put it in the living room, where we never go, and I forgot about it. My sister in law put a trace on it when she asked if I had received the package she sent and I told her no. She cancelled it the next day when I remembered the package in the living room and realized it was the package she was talking about. But a claim was never filed. So what gives?
When we know something is coming in UPS (U Pay Sucker) I leave a note on the door, date it, sign it, and print my name. He's been taking it but today he took the note and still left one of your signature stickies on the door. Schmo, schmo, schmo!
FedEx never gives us this kind of grief. Now I have to deal with this again tomorrow because I requested something shipped overnight thinking "FedEx" and they shipped it UPS :cry
If you were our driver I'll bet you wouldn't give us this :bs
Jimbo, it depends on the driver, my UPS guy will leave anything without a sig, well he signs my name and that is fine with me, I ship 15-20 packages a day with UPS and I am very pleased with the service I get. :yesnod: :yesnod:
I just got a package 2 weeks ago that was shipped in april of 2001
Talk about slow service. I tried to look up the tracking number abd the only thing that it told me was in transit for the day it was delivered. not when it was shipped or anything like that. I call up the company that it came from and they said that it was shipped over a year ago.
Frank, thanks for the info. We'll try to talk to the guy in person. I'll probably let Janet do the talking. Crusher137 your sister lives one cul de sac over from us. Bad area, lots of drive by water pistol shootings and the jaywalking here is just terrible  :D  :flag

 A guy I work with lives out there he has to leave early to get in by dark it is a rough area :D
I figured it out...it's not that he won't leave it when a note is left, he won't leave it when Jim leaves a note! I left one today for him and he left everything!!!!
Guess we know who has the clout with UPS! :D :D :D
As for the Dell, I've never heard of a computer company shipping through the PO. But...maybe they've had claims in your area and decided the PO was the most reliable.
I have another kind of problem with UPs, every time I order somthing and check it on the web-site for status, on the delivery day it say "attempted delivery, no one to recieve package, will re-attempt at----"
But there is always someone home!! Can I just request Mr. Mojo deliver my C4 products??
