Nice day in Long Island NY went for a ride. Sunrise Highway full of potholes, LIE full of potholes. Spent the good part of my ride dodging potholes...LOL
Just did a LI to Boston round trip Saturday. OMG Northern State is a mess. Once off the Island things get a (w)hole lot better. Disgusting how much we pay in taxes and yet the roads are third world HORRIBLE!!!!!
I spent more time looking to avoid potholes than looking down the road for traffic (and cops)......

I drive to LI several times a year. Years ago I would occasionally take the vette. Now always in the daily driver. Potholes, traffic, lousy parking, and careless drivers removed all the pleasure out of driving there.

Well come further north with much nastier weather swings and you will see much more and far more "aggressive " pot holes. That also holds true with the water mains freezing and breaking, after each freeze/thaw cycle the frost line goes deeper.
Like normal a good chance my Vette will not be coming out of hibernation till end of March mid April!
Well,at least we know are vettes are agile enough to avoid the pot holes.I'm surprised no one has been able to figure out why we have such crappy roads.Simple,we're a sanctuary state and our governor wants to make all the illegal aliens feel at home when they're driving around in our great state.

Didn't have potholes back in the late 80s when I lived in Lindenhurst and Bay Shore. And if we dis, they were repaired expeditiously.
Guess all your tax dollars are going towards illegal immigrants and their education.
Once upon a time I could honestly say I ♡ NY. Would never say that now.

Please can we try to keep the politics out of this forum.
I come here to try to get away from all of the bias that comes from both sides.
This is MY sanctuary!

No, our tax dollars are going towards bike lanes for the tree hugging green ***** and creating traffic for drivers. The crap started in Manhattan and now it's spreading to Queens and Brooklyn. We can thank that pissy little garden gnome Bloomberg for starting that.

I commute between Brooklyn and Nassau and the pothole situation is getting out of control. That being said, I’m happy I have my new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ run flats on. It’s the best tire I’ve had. Not at all like previous run flats. Performance and piece of mind. Just what the Belt Parkway and the Southern State call for!
When I lived on LI, I figured potholes were a fact of life. Between the wide climate range from winter to summer, ice, snow, road salt and snowplows, I figured roads didn't stand a chance. Plus a lot of them are getting old. Seemed the further south I got the better the road condition (although parts of I4 near Orlando are pretty rough, and lets not forget I-10 through Louisiana!). Now I'm in Northern California, where it rarely drops below freezing, and all it takes is heavy rain to jack up the roads. They seem to patch them faster here, but I'd compare the overall condition of the roads here to that of NY. I think they've cut those budgets to the bone and just keep patching instead of rebuilding - kick the can down the road. You'd think by now we'd have figured out how to make them more durable though.

They figured out how to make the roads more durable a long long time ago,If you drive east on the Sunrise highway the road is made of concrete and they were put down in the 40 and 50's.Hell even the Romans could make a road last. Do it once and do it right.
