Chan -- Christmas in New York is going on.
Buy a copy of a current Zagat's and read. New York has 1,000s of good restaurants.
Re: Im heading back to NY.....need some help (whip383)
any idea's on how to get good rates on hotels in the city, actually just get a hotel, they seemed to be sold out.
chan
Yes.
What type of hotel are you looking for?
What part of Manhattan would you like to be in?
What amenities will you need?
How much do you want to spend?
What is most important to you -- services, location, ambiance, price?
Re: Im heading back to NY.....need some help (EHS)
location is the most important, near times square. a few weeks ago i stayed at the W times square, most are sold out now. if they are not, its like 500-600 a night, which i dont want to pay, i rather go spend it on eating food. ur help would be appreciated. nice hotel around 250 or less a night would be great.
Re: Im heading back to NY.....need some help (whip383)
Stay in Southern Dutchess County(Fishkill). About 8 hotels of all price ranges at intersection of I84 and Route 9. Take Metro-North into Manhatten(about 1.5 hour train ride) Nice trip and the hotel is about 10 minutes from the train. You will save a ton of money compared to staying downtown.

IMHO Skip Lugers it is very over rated and over priced, and also not in Manhattan, it is in downtowm Bklyn.
I just moved to Maryland from N.Y. so no flames :D , but I would disagree. Lugars has won best steak in N.Y. for the last 10+ years. It's just over the Williamsburg bridge in downtown Manhattan.

However, don't bring the car! :D  :yesnod:
ahh well here it is directly from the Verizon yellow pages... Peter Luger Steake House

so yes it is in Bklyn... and I will once again state MY opinion as a lifelong New Yorker that it is over-rated as well as over priced. you can find better in NYC as well as Bklyn... Heck is eating off bare wood tables really that appealing  I will say this though, they did have one of the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had.

I can also confirm that Luger's is in Brooklyn.
I'm always amazed at Luger's ratings. It's a good steakhouse, but it's not better than many in Manhattan, -- and you don't have to deal with getting to and from Brooklyn to get to them.
These are all as good, and within walking distance of each other in Midtown (in alphabetical order):
Ben Benson's
Gallagher's
Morton's
Post House
Smith & Wollensky's
Spark's
Like I posted above -- get a Zagat's, look up steakhouses.
Re: Im heading back to NY.....need some help (mikeg826)
mike the only place that decent in price is near la guardia. im flying into there. im staying in flushing ny at the sheraton. well at least for now. they have a #7 train that goes straight to times square. ill ride it there and taxi back. well shall see what happens. there are some hotels available, but its either about 500 a night or shared baths, both of which i dont want to do. any suggestions, connections?
