Once you get this done, if you're going to sell the carrier, I might be interested in buying it.

Unless you can find a very reputable shop that has experience with C5s, I'd recommend ordering a replacement diff from a reputable vendor here and swapping them out. At the end of the day, there will be a very small price difference, if any, and you'll have better peace of mind knowing it was done correctly. The last thing you want is to pay 1500-2k for a gear swap only to end up with a whining diff.

I'm assuming you have a 6 speed, and want that lower gear ratio for steet/strip use? Be advised that when you go to a ratio like this, or the 4.10, high horsepower and sticky tires tend to "split" the pumpkin/diff open when dropping the clutch at higher rpm. Any diff is pretty much like that. The more leverage the pinion gear has on the ring gear, the more likely they are to break. Earlier C5s were known to do this. Especially before the 3 rib diff came out. If you don't have at least a 3 rib unit, I'd take the advice posted here, and get an entirely different unit, and make sure it's at least a 3 rib diff. Then you could sell your unit to help offset the cost. When the 427 Z06 came out, this was even more common. That's why the factory eventually went to the TR6060 and the Quaife rear diff. Good luck......

Thanks for the response guys. Understand the pinion leverage reference, worked with Dave LeBrun multi time nhra record holder/national event winner.
I would have considered setting up the gear myself after have set up just about every popular rear out there except Dana 60, didn't want to invest in a spreader.
We ran l89 option option 69 camaro in A/SA against the 426 max wedge cars.
The tools needed for c5 rear arebig$$.
Definitely consider a new c-section, thanks again

It’s a little bit of a drive for you, but ECS (East Coast Supercharging) is in central Jersey. They can do the gear swap for you.

What year is your car? As mentioned above, the 3 rib is a stronger case design than the single rib. The change over was in the 99-2000 time frame. Not exactly sure of the true dates. That said, a single rib is not all doom and gloom, especially if you’re not going to drag race it. Get a trans/diff brace from ECS as well to help things last.

Best of success to you with your mods...
