Bear Mountain Drive
I took a great Sunday morning drive that everyone should experience.
I take this route pretty frequently for a pleasure drive, but yesterday the conditions were exceptional!
Anyone familiar with the Bear Mountain region knows there are some great roads up there including Seven Lakes Drive, 9W, and Storm King Highway. They are some of my favorites, but yesterday I went with the more technical roads through the mountain. If you would like to follow along on Google Maps, use these destinations starting at the GWB
-Lake Tioratti boat launch
-Perkins Memorial Drive (all the way to the scenic view point, way past the tower)
-Table 9 (takes you back down the mountain and crosses the Hudson on the Bear Mountain Bridge)
-NY 9a
-Sprain Brook Parkway
The trick is that you really need to get on the road early, particularly this time of year to avoid crowds and cyclists, and get to the top of the world before 10AM.

I used to go hiking at Bear Mountain and winter time hit the lodge to warm up, and I had 280Z, loads of fun in the mountain roads.

Bear Mountain and the surrounding area is awesome, I went to one of the Wednesday night shows in July which was awesome too.

Another great destination in the area is the Walkway Over the Hudson between Highland & Poughkeepsie NY. This repurposed railway bridge has been converted to a 1 1/4 mile walkway, 200+ feet above the river. Rest room & snack facilities at both ends of the bridge... https://walkway.org/visit/
