Anybody around here do this? Looking at running my base C8 2LT at NJMP Thunderbolt in spring. Wondering if anyone has experience with a similar vette?

 

Did an HPDE, the first club, at NJMP way back in my C5. HPDEs are a lot of fun and you learn a lot. Check to see if you can get insurance.

 

What day are you going, if you don't mind me asking? I'm debating whether I want to go Mon Apr 20 with TrackXperienz. I've been with them in the past and they're great. I haven't taken my Vette to a HPDE yet, but this would be the first time.

 

Hey there. Decided against taking my base car to the track. Don't want to ruin my tires/brakes/warranty. Sadface cuz I wanted to pretty bad. I just can't lose my warranty...

 

The first thing you need to remember is that your car is a race car that is street legal....plain and simple. You're not going to be Mario Andretti first time out, nor should you be, so don't think you have to drive like him! My buddy tried to get me to go to Watkins Glen for several years and I wouldn't go because I didn't want to hurt the car.
You will not void the warranty and you will not ruin your tires or brakes if you go with the mindset that you're there to learn your first time out and just take it easy. Most HPDEs have instructors for the novice group.....use them! Wonderful fonts of knowledge!

I GUARANTEE that after you get a taste of being on track, safely going fast in a car that was engineered to go fast, you will be HOOKED!!! I promise you, you wont be sorry that you went out on track. I can confidently say these things because it's exactly how I felt before and after my first time racing.

The only thing I would suggest you do before going is make sure you flush/fill your brake fluid and that the car is sound....that's it! Now get out there and make sure you come back and let us know how awesome it was!
