Default Need some header help from NJ guys

Anyone in Jersey, close to Columbus (Rt 68 and 206), have any experience with removing getting the cats on a C4.. I am having a world of trouble getting at the Upper mounting bolt on the driver side cat.. I have every tool known to man and I just can't get at it.. If someone has done this your help would be most appreciated..

My problem is clearance.. the bolt just seems to close to the firewall to get any type of wrench or socket up there.. I have tried every type of universal I know of and can't get at the thing..

HELP!!!!!!

That the driveshaft and "C" challenge out and lower the back of the motor and you'll have plenty of room. May seem like alot of extra work but in the long run you'll save time.

As we discussed at the Grand Canyon, I took the longest extension I had and was able to get to it. It's much easier with the six speed rather than the auto, so you don't have to worry about that.

I forget what else we discussed, but are you not able to disconnect the cat from the exhaust manifold?

your right frank, it's the upper bolt we talked about..

The problem I am having is getting enough room between the firewall and the bolt where it mounts the cat to the block, up along side the trans..

I have tried every extension and universal joint combo that exists.. I just don't have the room to get the socket on the bolt..

I have even tried to slip a wrench down from the top of the engine and get it that way.

No luck eitherway..!!!

Will, contact tomdcarguy@aol.com, he's a Chevy Tech, he may have a trick to doing it since he does it for a living.
