Default Watkins Glen lap

Jeanne and I took a trip to upstate NY this past week to see Niagara Falls. On the way home we stopped at Watkins Glen and were able to take 3 pace laps around the track. I got to be last in line so I could lay back then have some fun

Did you have to reserve your place ahead of time, or is this something that you can just show up and do?

It was called Thunder Road, they do it at certain times. We called ahead and got lucky that it was scheduled for when we were in the area :D

I thought you meant that you took a lap of the original course.
Can you do this thunder road deal in your streetcar? and how much does it cost?

I think what we did was the original course.

Yes, you do it in your street car. $25 for 3 PACE laps. Well worth the price but not worth a trip for just 3 laps. We happened to be in that area

Gentlemen & Ladies,

I first went to the Glen 40 years ago in 1963. They had grandstands but no real tall barrier fence like shown in today’s pictures. There were some great Corvette racers present. Follow this link. http://www.ncrs.org/forum/tech.cgi/read/100284

The original course is actually through the streets of the city. Amazing to think those roads were used as a racetrack. I highly suggest finding a tour map and taking a lap around it. Too challenging/dangerous even by today's standards. The original WGI track did not include the boot, which was added later on. Thanks for the info though.
