Default PA Area CAR SHOW

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum and i just wanted to let you all know about an upcoming car show. I'm on the committee planning it so if you have any questions about it feel free to ask me.

heres some information:
April 24th, 2004 at Millersville University

10am-Noon: Roll-in and set up
Noon-4:30: The Car show
4:30-Awards and giveways
Where: McComsey Parking lot-Millersville University
Rain Location: Under the parking garage

THE DYNO! Ever wondered how much power your car can make? Well now's the time to find out! Register for the show and you can sign up to put your car on the dyno. The Dyno will be running from 10:00am-4:30pm on a first-come, first-served basis, so come early! Pricing information is below.

GIVEAWAY -Everyone that registers for the car show will be automatically entered in a giveway of prizes. This will be held during the awards ceremony at the end of the day. Prizes include free dyno time at Xotic Motorsports and more!

Registration- Registration will be $15 at the door. Pre-registration is only $10 so register early!

General Admission -Want to come check out the show without showing off your car? No Problem! Admission is FREE so put the word out and bring all your friends.

Dyno -The first 10 people to dyno will recieve a special rate of $50 for 3 runs. After that the price will be set at $60 for 3 runs. This is much lower than other places. Dyno's are usually $80 for 3 runs, so take advantage of these rates!

The following link has all the information about the show that is in this post, plus pictures, contact information, and a printable registration sheet: http://www.millersv.edu/~uab/carshow1.html

Millersville University is located in Millersville, PA, which is very close to Lancaster PA. I'll work on getting some driving directoins added to the site.

There will also be free food, a DJ, and some of the dance groups from the university.

If you think you might come, or are at least interested...would you post up saying your interested? I'm trying to get a general idea of what to expect.

also, if you need to contact me you can reach me at trubo32@aol.com

Thanks guys,
Hope to see you there!
Bob

Last year it was alittle bit heavier towards the import side. there were a couple of dropped trucks, some luxury imports (BMW, Lexus), a couple of classics and a decent amount of domestics. It was a small show last year(80 entries) b/c there was no website up for it, so the only advertising was done by putting out fliers.

Since i got the website up and running, I have put posts on over 10 online forums and my friend has put it on a few classic car website. some of these include ls1.com , here, viper club of america(where 2 have already expressed interest in coming), stangnet, club lexus, is300.net, supraforums, turboforum.net, twinturbo.net(300zx forums), rx7club, 3si.org(mitsu 300gt and dodge stealth forum), etc...I hope to almost double the attendance this year.

If you know of any other sites that this could be posted on please let me know. It was a good show last year considering it was the first year for it, and we hope to make it that much better this year.

there is a link off of the carshow website in the first post that will take you to some pictures from last years show.

if you have any other questions, just post em up.

thanks
Bob

Hey guys/ladies,
Show update for you. As suggested, we have now added the judging sheets for each category to the main page of our website. We changed alot on the sheets this year to ensure the clarity of what is being judged.

The only class we havnt put up is motorcycle, and that will be up when we finish going through it.

You can check them all out under the judging section of this page: http://www.millersville.edu/~uab/carshow.html

REMINDER: The show is only a few weeks away now. If you know that you're coming for sure, save yourself a few dollars and pre-register.(form is available on the website)

-It looks like we have 4 dance groups performing.
-We have ~$200 worth of stuff we're giving away. This includes a mr. clean no dry, a full case of oil, a couple small tool sets, other car products, dyno time at Xotic Motorsports.

Hope to see a bunch of you there.
Thanks again,
Bob

Just looked at the Judging Sheet for Domestic (which I guess my basically stock/lightly modded Corvette falls into) and if I don't have custom paint, a body kit, body modifications, custom lighting, and many more things on that list then I'd be scoring about zilch for a gorgeous car.

This is apparently a Custom car Show and really no room for Stock

I dont want to discourage people with close to stock cars to enter. The way the judging sheet is set up, you will still be able to score points, you just wont be able to max out in each category.(basicaly the maxmim points in each category are for more custom things, but you can still score a few points in most of the categories). for example, If you have a stock stereo, but it sounds really good, you'll still get one, maybe two points, but not the full 4.

The paint category takes into account all paint basically. You will earn points for a clean, well kept, paint job, but you wouldnt earn the maximum number possible. Last year there werent many domestics that had body kits, but we have to include that as a possibility in case someone does have one. Also, if you notice in each of the 4 main categories, there is a "cleanliness/attention to detail" subcategory. This is meant to check to see basically if the owner took the time to make the car look clean for the show.
In reality, most people in the mild class wont have most of the stuff listed on the sheet, but we have to include it, in case one or two people do. We are using the same judging sheets for mild and wild classes also, so the options for wild are on the same sheet as mild. In the mild class, most people will just have a few things done...its usually intake exhaust, and a few body mods at most. Last year i won the mild import category with intake, Fuel computer, header, exhaust, wheels, and sideskirts.

It wont be until you get into the wild class that you really start seeing graphics, custom turbo setups, and most of the other bigger things.

I hope you'll still consider coming out, its going to be a good time, and with as many donations as we've gotten, theres things other than trophies you could win.

Next year, if the show turns out to be huge this year, I'm thinking about adding a "close to stock" category the maximum mod's being wheels, intake, exhaust.

Hope to see you there,
Bob

I hope you'll still consider coming out

I just wanted to say we are also adding a "rarity" category that is not on the sheet right now, for an additional possible 5 points. This means there is a possiblility of a completely stock car to score 25 points. This doesnt even take into account the couple points you could score for nice looking wheels(vettes have pretty good looking wheels stock), couple points for a good stock paint job, and couple points in other categories without really maxing out the points in those categories. we do give partial credit, its not all or nothing ;)

so the points possiblility is still there, thats why we take into account how clean/detailed each of the main 4 categories are; So someone with a lot done but shoddy work/shortcutting doesnt win just because they have more done. It all balances out in the end.

come out and check it out :-)

For those of us with original and or restored cars (members of the NCRS > National Corvette Restores Society) there is not much to encourage us to come out and have our cars judged at your show. Combining custom and originality on the same judging form doesn't make a lot of sense. What you might want to do is have two seperate catagories, custom and stock. That's how most judged shows handle it.

Anyway you might want to post your show here http://www.njcarshow.com/
Covers NY, NJ, PA.

Good Luck with your show. :chevy

gq82 -- Remember that there is a classic category for guys with cars like yours. The judging sheet for the Classic category is based more on the quality of origonal parts, as well as the fit and finish of the vehicle. These sheets are also still being modified based on the comments and feedback we are receiving from people like you, so keep the comments comming!
We met with the guys who will be doing the judges the other day and they game us some good feedback too, they are well aware of the fact that classics are judged differently than other classes of vehicles.
We hope you decide to come to the show, we would like to see a large showing of classics!
