I've been working with a guy for the past 15 years, who has a crew of 40, and does mobile tinting.. His work is guaranteed for life, and they do amazing work.. Normally 3-4 guys will shop up per job, and bat the cars out quick.. But, $100 does any car, anywhere from NH to the Cape.. If you'd like, just call 508-483-3251 and let him know JBaker told you to call.. If you don't tell him I gave the #, you won't get that price.. They'll come to your house, your work, hell he'll even come to Home Depot and do it while you shop...
You won't be sorry... The company name is GlassFX (like EFFECTS). When I ran my detailing shop for 9 years, he did ALL of my work, and was doing an average of 10 cars/week for me, without a single complaint
Thanks Scorp,
I was thinking of doing 20 all around. Hopefully someone will have imput. I will keep you posted.
20 all around will get you in trouble, unless your in an area in MA where they don't care, which I haven't found yet... I went 30 on my truck, and had to rip it all off when it came time for an inspection.. Mass sucks when it comes to that stuff..
Now I do 20 on the rear glass, and 35 on the doors... It's a good look, not as dark as I'd LIKE it to be, but it's legal.

Wow, Thanks J, that sounds like a good deal, I am definately going to give him a call. Hopefully I will get my car out in the next few weeks. I will keep in mind what you said about the darkness. I have 35% all around on my SHO but like you said it's not as dark as I would like.
Would you happen to have any pictures of this? I thought we could only legally do 35% all around. 20 on the back is legit?
35 on the drivers and passangers side windows but you can go as low as you want on all the rear glass. my old tint looked like it was 20 all around and the police never gave me a hard time about it in the 3 years that i have had my car. when you go for an inspection make sure your windos are down just incase (out of sight out of miind).
also: i believe the shop that i refer people to also uses glass FX. if it is i believe they have 2 packages the better of the two looks great they do micro edging around all of the glass and they make the rear window look like it is one piece, this package is well worth the extra $. they did my girl's car and it looks great.
What are the specifications for aftermarket window tinting?
For most vehicles, aftermarket tinting that registers at least 35% on a tint meter on side windows immediately adjacent to the driver and front passenger seats, and side windows immediately to the rear of the operator and passenger, is acceptable. The rear window may be tinted to the 35% level, but the vehicle must be equipped with two outside rear view mirrors. The windshield may only be tinted down to the AS-1 line, which is usually located in the uppermost (6) inches of the windshield.

35% thanks to the wonderful Mbutt politicians :banghead:
I have a 97 Ram 4x4 that I tinted when I got it new. Wasn't until last years inspection they busted me. I have been going to this same station for many years but for some reason they started checking more closely and pulled out a light meter on me.
Turned out it measured 25-30%. Seems that the factory glass has a 5-10% tint built into the glass so adding another layer just adds to it and put me over the limit. Ended up taking it off on the spot just to get the sticker. Went straight to the auto parts store and bought some 20% and put it back on !! I know I will have to peal it again but I can't stand not having it.
The lightest tint I have ever seen is the 35% so I'm not sure what can be legally done ?
One tint shop I went to wont do the dark stuff for the liability issues so you might have trouble getting it done. But then again I see a lot of cars that are too dark with stickers so there must be stations out there that look the other way. If you know of any please list them
As far as the rear windows. The old laws you could do what ever you wanted as long as you had 2 outside mirrors. Now they don't care, still has to meet the 35% rule. Sucks that you can't be grandfathered on this one.
I also looked into the NH laws since I might be buying a house up there. They don't allow any tint on the driver/passanger widows at all and only 35% behind the driver. So much for "Live free or die".
Why can't they leave us alone and chase the real criminals
