Robert Moses show???

Let me know!!!!!!

BTW- You are right, its a shame a good thing at OBI was turned into a Police Action- lat Sunday they were back around 10:00 AM.
Also the same day is an NCRS meet At Suffolk Community College (Selden Campus) I'm planning to attend this one.
Don't forget LICOA show at Ramp Chevy in Port Jeff. This Sunday.
September should be a good month to enjoy the Vettes.

As for the OBI...i havent made it there in a couple of weeks....but I am sure the added police presence makes entering and leaving a nice SLOW experience!!!!!

I couldn't believe how many cops were there last Sunday
There must have been at least a dozen cops on the Ocean Pkwy, nailing people left and right. I noticed they were particularly hard on the bikers, with at least 4 pulled over on the way home. At least 10 miles away from the OBI on the way home on the Ocean Pkwy heading westbound, my Escort 8500 found a Trooper in Z28 Camaro sitting behind a light pole, facing traffic on the shoulder with a photo radar gun pointed right at me. Fortunately, I was only doing 62
Sneaky bastage was trying to nail someone doing 100+, since that's the stretch where you could do it as its in the middle of nowhere. I found his little game out though - felt like giving him the finger as I drove by.

I have nothing against cops. I just think there are far too many of them in New York, deployed to raise revenue instead of fighting true crimes that are a danger to our society. ESPECIALLY on Long Island. Instead of being deployed to fight drug dealers, car thieves, murderers, rapists, and the like, cops are sent out to write speeding tickets, parking tickets, and other B.S. crimes. Why? Because all this generates revenue. Catching a murderer or car thief generates no revenue.
I mean come on - what I witnessed last weekend on the Ocean Parkway was nothing more than a mission to raise as much ticket revenue as possible, under the false guise of improving safety. A dozen cops on the Ocean Pkwy? Give me a break. If you really wanted to improve safety, what are all the unmarked cars for?
Does laser improve safety? No. It simply raises more ticket revenue.
If you've got a better explanation, I'm all ears...

OK, maybe I'm being too melodramatic, but you get the idea. I've seen troopers hiding out on the side of parkways hidden in bushes and trees, clocking people with laser. Or of course the favorite spot for cops - behind a bridge overpass. I mean its like jungle warfare. Where's the safety enhancement in that? On the contrary, I've seen some troopers hiding out in spots that were dangerous, and they could have easily been hit.
I've seen Troopers hiding in the bushes, at night, with an unmarked black Camaro, using laser on oncoming traffic. Explain to me the safety in that.
If the motivating factor was safety, and not ticket revenue, then you would never see an unmarked car, and laser would not be needed. You would have clearly marked police cruisers on the side of the road using radar. People would slow down when they saw the cruiser, and those too oblivious to see the cruiser and slow down, and get nailed by radar, deserve the ticket. Safety is enhanced, as speeds are reduced when people see the cruiser. No games. Safety #1. Yet this is not the case. Instead, its ticket revenue #1, safety a distant #2.
Look, what I was annoyed about was how the cops seemed to be having a field day writing tickets for anything they could. They specifically went out that morning to the Ocean Pkwy. to prey on the car and bike enthusiasts and try to write as many citations as they possibly could. Speeding tickets, parking tickets, seatbelt tickets, expired registration/inspection tickets, front license plate tickets, loud exhaust tickets, you name it. That's pretty nasty, IMO. There's law enforcement, then there's just being obnoxious. That was obnoxious.
Have I done 100+ mph in my Vette? Of course. Most of the time its been on the track (road course). Where its safe, and LEGAL. That's what I enjoy the most - going fast on a track. Not on public roads.
What I enjoy most is accelerating fast. Not cruising at triple digit speeds. So I'm quite content in cruising down the Ocean Pkwy at 62 MPH, which is what I usually do.
Speed doesn't kill. Stupid people with speed kills. Just like guns. Guns don't kill. Stupid people with guns kill.
Like I said, if that trooper was interested in slowing people down, he wouldn't have been hiding behind a light pole in a black Camaro.
