racing is one thing, but for the corvette enthusiast has the Great American Sports Car been modified so much that people tend to make it look like an import ? i'm missing something here. why mess with perfection. IMO.
THIS SHOULD STIR THE POT ...
My mods so far have all been for performance: Blackwing air filter, CF Airbridge, Kooks LT Headers, High Flow cats, X-pipe, and a Z06 exhaust. I have been thinking of getting in Contact with Paula this winter and have her make me a really nice hoodliner, nothing tacky. I've also been thinking of getting a full Vette essential package. Of course, there are times I start thinking about getting a painted fuel rail cover, Chrome engine inserts, new wheels, etc., but like you said, Corvettes are perfect just the way they are. I guess its a matter of loving your vette too much, wanting to pamper her with gifts and trying to make her unique (while winning some trophies in the process). You gotta be careful though because as the years go by and you buy more and more mods, your vette can end up looking like a rolling Mid america catalog.

All my mods have been for competative events.
Some to make it go faster, some to make it more reliable, some to make it safer. The last one you cannot do without.
Thanks! I just love the newfound power and she still looks stock. I think I'll wait until my stock leather is really worn out to do the Vette essential mod. The problem is, I keep cleaning and conditioning it all the time, it looks brand new. Gonna have to pour some acid on those seats one of these days or else they'll last forever!!
My only "mods" are higher wattage lamps and the Z06 airbox. I like the "out of the showroom" look. When I go to classic car shows, I like to look at the stockers that look like they just got driven home from the dealership. It's like a time machine.
The "sleeper" concept that Alex is using is cool... Stock on the outside with extra HP on the inside.
Well for one thing it's really hard to get a Vette to look like an import...the stickers keep blowing off at "highway speeds".
Of course Corvette is our Icon and leaves most of the "street slugs" as disappearing objects in the RVM but it is not "perfection". So I do what I can to "enhance" it's already fine qualities.
