Default New Hobby. Shifter Kart. Anybody else? **PICS**

I came up with an alternative for racing the Vette and dumping money into it only all the time. A buddy was selling this and I picked it up. Anybody else ride these things? I figured it will cost less to race then the Vette. It is a couple year old Tony Kart 125 Shifter. It hauls a$$ and would smoke the Z06 in every aspect of performance.

That street is a little rough for it. My a$$ is only 3/4" off te ground.

Depending on gearing it will do around 140 at Thunderhill and turn 12-15 second faster laps then the measly 2:00 minutes the Z06 will do.

You should take it to Thunder hill next time you go along with your Z. See if they will let you make a solo run.

They have Friday practicing in the summers sometimes. I can't wait to get it out there. I had ridden a couple older ones that were not shifters before, but this thing is un believable.

Those are unbelievably quick. I've heard about a karting program in Atwater and I've been meaning to check into it for my kids. Is there a place near you where you can take it and race it?

Other then my development around my house? Blue Max Kart club is 5 miles from my house and Argyle Park in Dixon is supposed to be cool. Prarie City in Sac has a cool track also. After the Snowmobiling is done, I will be headed out all the time in the spring.

That's cool man.. A couple folks down here are looking at doing the same thing. I know once I try it, I can stop modding.

I always wanted to get into some sort of racing. Last year my wife wanted me to sell the Vette and get into cam racing. I did a few sessions at Altamont and had a blast. I just could not pull the trigger. Then when I wrecked the coupe she asked if that was a sign to get a race car. I laughed and said I am getting a Z06. I would not be able to suppport both hobbies, but this might be something I could afford.

Speedvision just showed a three hour enduro that I taped and watched last weekend. We raced karts before we started racing cars, but they were not shifter karts. My brother has been trying to get me back into karts ever since I sold the race car. They are a blast and a lot cheaper to run than a car.

There's also a track in Davis. I tried a friends cart there a couple of years ago. After 15 laps on a 95* day I was whooped

Always been curious about these, 140 3/4" off the ground probably looks like 180 heh. What is the damage to get into a well built shifter kart?
