I had my new Z06 done at Premier Protective Films in Fremont right off Christy Street. They did a clear bra and the rear window tint. While my car was there there was a Porsche Carrera GT, Ferraris, BMWs, and plenty of other high end cars. I was extremely happy with the work they did.
my Z06 was totaled recently and will be picking up the replacement in the next week or so. Premier is where I will be taking it first. I am going to have it trucked over by Boardwalk so there is 0 chance of rock chips. I will also get the ceramic tint from them this time as well. Last time I went with the regular tint and was ok in blocking some of the suns rays. Just take a look at their website and it says it all - www.premiermobilegroup.com

that's a tough one there Z51Jeff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you had another company put on the hardware and the tint got damaged in the process? You should go after the company who was trying to put the hard ware on for you as to not being careful, not the tint company. I've been exceptionally happy with the guys at Premier. Eventhough my car's not a Ferrari, they've always treated it as such.
I went with 50% ceramic on the sides and 35% on the back. Really helps with cutting down the sun's rays. Evilness, I think I met you at the last meet. How's everything going?

Heres the deal.I stopped by this place a month ago to get the window tinted. The guy tells I need to take off all the hardware, cant tint around it so I take all the hardware off myself and finely get it over there.Get the car done everything looks good but before I leave I ask the guy about putting the hardware back on the glass he says no problem it wont hurt the film just wait a few days.3 days go by and I decided to put the hardware back on the car and it screws up the tint.I call the guy back and he tells me its so much to remove the tint and another $225 to retint the window. Now when Im talking to the guy he tells me that said dont over tighten the bolts, bull$hit,I think I would have remembered this. Its not the money,I could give a $hit about the money. Its the attitude-I GOT PAID AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS-This guy wouldnt put the hardware back on the window as if he knew it would screw up the tint.Ill remove the tint just leave it alone.I find it hard to believe this place got successful by $hitting on people like this. You want to take your car there,by all means.I wont be taking anything else there.

$225 for a rear window tint job. that is robbery. Seriously, call me if you want to save money next time and have it done right. We are doing 3 C6's this week alone.

I dont care what it cost, its when I pay the bill and I get garbage, thats a problem.Heres a shot of the pass side. Some will look at this and say-you can hardly see it-You can see where the film is twisted, wasnt suposed to happen.Im done with this,no more bitchin from me.[IMG][/IMG]
Sorry, but I do not think it is the vendor's fault here. From what I understand from reading Z51Jeff's post, you installed the hardware and it looks like it was overtorqued to the point it tore the tint. This post reminds me a lot of one instance in my 30s. I used to own a machine shop in Maryland that manufacture wheel studs for autos. This one time, I had a customer come to us and claim that the wheel studs were damaged. It turned out that this particular customer stripped the threads off several studs and claim that it is the result of us not guiding him on how to put them on.
We all make mistakes, but we should own up to it and not squeeze it through the system and blame someone else. Just my 2 cents.
Honestly the corvette especially a C5Z is VERY easy to tint. We have frameless windows which take maybe 10-15 min each to tint and the back window on the Z is probably another 20 min.... We also only have 3 windows to tint...
The coupes are a nother story with the "difficult" rear window and the dot matrix.
But paying over $200 for 3 windows is a lot... i can't believe some of you pay close to 300 and over 300... that is nuts.
The film is worth $20-30 the rest is labor for maybe 1-2 hrs... the guy is getting probably 15-20 an hour... you do the math. I understand they are a business but paying $300 is getting a reach-around.

Is the car you asked me about a C5 Coupe or a Z06? If it was a C5Z, then the price is less of course. I was assuming it was a coupe.
FWIW, the back windows on the coupes and C6Z, if done correctly, take about 2-3 hours alone. The sides are 30 minutes or so by the rime you cut the patters, clean and install. To do it right you must have it heated up and shrunk to match the curve in the glass or it will not last long or appear right. I stood and watch my whole car get done and it is time consuming for sure. I do agree that anything over $300 is pushing it.
out of curiosity, why did you take it to someone to get the bolts off the glass and the tint separately?
I didnt take the car anywhere,I was instructed by Premier to take the hardare off the window, they wouldnt touch the car unless the hardware was removed. You state the hardware may have been over torqued, the rear window weighs maybe 100 pounds, the rear window struts are so stiff you cant push them in by hand.Your a smart guy, what happens if this stuff isnt tight,ya think it might move around on the window?I see youve got their site in one of your posts.Lookin for a deal? This guy was a jerk and it was as if these guys knew this was going to fail.Got a few bucks from me and them moved onto the next Lambo I guess.Premier sucks.I wont let anybody touch my car thats why I took it to them in the first place, never again and anybody that asks me will get the same response from me.I was taking my car to a show not long after getting this done and couldn't have this bull$hit looking the way it did so I removed,if I would have had some time I would have had other shops look at it,made a court date and got my money back ONLY BECAUSE THE OWNER WAS A SMUG *****.Anybody like the quality of work over at Premier Protective Films,by all means have them work on your car but make sure you ask about there guarantee,I dont know why this didnt work out, very impressed with the cars flowing through this place.I guess an 18 year old Corvette isnt deserving of the top quality this place displays.
