It was on Kiely Blvd, just out in front of the AMF Bowling place. The Merc went through the fence on the corner of Butte St and Kiely Blvd.

Unfortunately, our legal system provides the best justice money can buy. I'm betting neither of these two pukes gets a significant jail sentence. I'm an old guy but I've done my share of street racing in the past. I'm not proposing that people should be shot for drag racing on the street, but what these two over privileged douche bags were doing is commensurate with murder. You don't travel at 65-90 mph on El Camino Real, or any other main city street, EVER, at any time! If you do and you kill someone, you should pay the penalty, and that penalty should be severe. Their stupidity has destroyed several lives (the girl, her parents, her family, etc.) and they should fry.

Yup, that's right. I grew up there - my parents had a house on Kiely, and my HS grad all night party was at that bowling alley. It was called Moonlite Lanes back then.
My prayers for the girls family!

I used to work at Scott and Bowers. My son was born at the Kaiser Hospital on Kiely. I know that area. That's a main street, not some residential two laner. Let's not try to perfume this pig. These guys deserve whatever they get, or should get.

There would be never enough $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to buy the worth of my children's life. I don't think I would ask for leniency ... maybe pleading for 10-20 years for those two killers.

Amazing what money can do...
"The couple were devastated by their only child's sudden, tragic death. But they asked Navarro to sentence Mergonoto, the driver who hit Ashley, to probation and community service rather than putting him behind bars.
The request came after Mergonoto's family agreed to settle a civil lawsuit with the Kriegers, the terms of which remain confidential. Neither were at the sentencing and declined to comment."

I'm guessing the discussion with their own attorney went something like this...
"This was a very tragic event. One that can never be completely forgiven. But the unfortunate fact is that your daughter is gone and you can be bitter and angry over it and hope the judge hits the defendants hard, or you can set yourself up financially for the rest of your lives and offer mercy and conciliation for something that you cannot change or undo."
