Default Rumor is true

I've increased my involvement in HOD just a bit. Ken Dobson and I are partners in HOD's SoCal franchise. Although it hasn't been uncommon to see me out having fun with other groups, most on here know I've been an "HOD Guy" for a number of years. Anyway, nothing much has changed (well, my wife and keeper of the family checkbook might disagree ) other than the NorCal CF now has a friend (that'd be me!) organizing some fun from Buttonwillow on south. Over time I will probably be at fewer NorCal events (relative since I'm routinely at 20-30 events each year), but don't think for a second you've passed my jellybean for the last time at Thunder Hill!

Ken and I of course want to welcome all you hot rods to moonlight down south. We'll treat you WAY better than David does up north! Kidding, of course. But you can expect a very similar program down south to the successful program Dave Ray has built in the greater Bay Area. A bit of what I learned from all the groups and drivers up here goes with me.

As for gratuitous plugs . . . we have 4 dates remaining this year. 3 at Fontana and 1 at BW, so please pass the word and come check us out (a Corvette on the big bank at Fontana . . . and you think the front straight at THill seems fast?!).

Look for some added venues in 2016.

Oh, and special congrats to Ken and our own Bill B. for their exploits at MRLS this past weekend. Way to kick some tail fellas!

See ya'll at THill on Sept 26/27!

Fronts and Rears. They're also a bit pitted (that's interesting, what causes that?). Pads are still serviceable, so there's no scoring. I don't think there are any fractures. As I said in a previous post, I found the brakes (finally) on track day and have every intention to fry them again every chance I get!

Here's the question(s) . . . Is this typical of severe use, and what pads and replacement rotors do ya'll suggest for a weekend warrior (road course only). I don't care about pretty (although that's OK). I'm looking for decent function that's not terribly expensive but clearly consumable/expendable. No real plan to replace the stock calipers . . . don't want to get too crazy with this new habit. And, should I replace the brake lines with SS?

Oh, BTW, I've been leaving AH and the TCS "on". I'm probably not doing myself or my brakes any favors with the TCS ON at this stage in my education. I'm betting my brakes are getting worked harder than I realize.

While I'm at it . . . any recommendation on a street-legal tire that's best on the track? I don't have any plans to trailer my ride, so it'll be taking me to and from the track as well.

Thanks all . . .

As the saying goes, you've come a long way baby.

Congratulations on the new endeavor

Congrats on the new business venture. I am happy to hear that somebody as enthusiastic as yourself will be involved with HOD and all the great things they do for us track enthusiasts that want a safe, fun and fast track experience.

I guess that I have more of a reason to drag the car down to Buttonwillow now.

This is about the longest I've gone without a Vette in the garage since the late 80's. I'm starting to feel the need for speed again.

Thanks, Gang.

Nice, Roy. David fell in love with the place last year when he raced there with SCCA. Then when HOD held an event there in conjunction with the "Corvette Experience" deal we had with GM, a lot of the NorCal staff fell in love.
