Sonoma Magic #2 in the event of rain
At this time, the weather report for the running of Sonoma Magic#2 this Sunday, November 26 at Sonoma Raceway could be very iffy.
I should know something more on Saturday.
Updated track reports can be found by calling the DRAG RACE HOTLINE at
1-800-870-7223 EXT 209
Just as soon as I hear from track drag strip manager Georgia Seipel, I will post her decision here.
No need for any of you making a unnecessary trip to the track in the event of a cancellation.
If the event is called off due to rain, I am sure Chuck will be able to reschedule some time in the 2018 season once race dates become available.
Wishing all of you and your families the best for this Thanksgiving holiday

Can't believe this Jim. It hasn't rained in over a week. Sunday will be the 10th day. Saturday is supposed to be ok, Monday ok too. Got a freshened up motor ready to run. Time to do your anti rain dance. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Willie,
I was thinking exactly the same thing when I was looking back to the last time we had any amount of measurable rain fall. Georgia has promised a phone call sometime on Saturday and should know more by then.
Watch this space for forth coming updates!
Hopefully, we can pull this one off especially since it will be her last official race with her impending retirement on December 31 as Sonoma Raceway drag Racing director ending almost a 30 year reign
I am going to miss her beyond words.

What is really strange and I have witnessed this myself is the micro climate that surrounds Sonoma Raceway. I have seen it rain in Marin county as well as Vallejo to the East and not a drop fell on the track.
Hard to figure this one out though I am not saying by any means this will occur once again on Sunday.
Just ask Richard Lear who is some what of a track historian. He pointed this out years ago to me.
Regardless, Georgia who is always very cautious will be the one who will make the final determination if we run or not?
Stay tuned folks, more to come...

Hi Jim, I will also miss Georgia tremendously. She has been responsible for keeping the drag racing program at Sonoma going strong over the years. Her kind demeanor, her patience and her ability to deal with conflicts sets her aside from anyone I have ever met. I'm sure Kyle has inherited her genes and I have no doubt that he will be able to take over the reins without a hiccup. However, there is and will be only one Georgia Seipel. Willie

Sonoma Raceway drag strip manager Georgia Seipel just called to let me know that tomorrows race has been CANCELLED due to the expected rain storm that is expected to hit to area within the next 24 hours..
Please let others know to avoid any unnecessary trips to the track.
We would also like to extend our thanks to all that were planning on attending for tomorrows event and the interest given to us by so many.
Once the 2018 Sonoma Drag racing schedule becomes available, Chuck will be given many options to secure another race day.
Have a fun and safe holiday season everyone!

It's 3:30 am , I'm checking the weather to see what tires I'm putting on the vette. O well, I'll be decorating the Christmas Tree with the grand kids.
Was supposed to go boating yesterday. that changed too. This was going to be a great weekend.

Willie's post on Georgia is spot on, I have been racing at Sonoma for 20 years straight this year and she has kept me motivated too race more than once, she will be greatly missed. That being said there could not be a better person taking over though as we all know when a Seipel speaks people listen, Sonoma is in great hands with Kyle.
