Sad news
Our friend, forum member and longtime track announcer at Sonoma Raceway, Jim McComb, passed away yesterday. Jim's knowledge, humor and personality will surely be missed. Anyone who has raced at Sonoma most likely has heard Jim's golden voice over the loudspeaker. Jim knew details of almost all racers at the track. His knowledge of drag racing spanned well over 50 years. His anecdotes and humor made racing at Sonoma interesting and fun. We will miss you Jim. Rest in peace. Willie

This is horrible holiday news. I was just emailing with him exactly 30 days ago about our Corvette Drags.
Prayers go out to all Jim’s family and friends.

Yes very sad, Sonoma will never be the same! Not many people are into Mopars & Vettes so Jim and I understood each other pretty well and shared many great stories over the years. RIP JIM

That is sad news. Jim was a great guy and everyone will miss hearing his voice on the loud speaker. RIP buddy!

I haven't been to this section for awhile. Sad news indeed. Willie, thanks for letting us know and thanks for getting me into the tower to meet him this summer. He was such a nice, true gentleman with a mischievous sense of humor. Truly one of a kind.
