"Decal" front license plates
Saw a few "decal" front plates on some vettes at the Abel Car Show. Are they "legal"? I imagine unless you're stopped for a moving infraction it would be no problem.
And where can you get them legal or otherwise?

They’re not illegal in and of themselves as long as they aren’t fraudulent (such as if they were there to mislead LE about your plate number) but they don’t cover your need for a front plate. That being said, an officer MAY mistake them for a real plate on the road which could save you from a ticket or he may even cut you some slack in case you did get pulled over if he felt you were putting forth some effort to show your front plate. I’m saying maybe.
As far as manufacturing them, a Santa Clara Corvettes member made them for himself and other members but recently said he’s not really interested in doing more vinyl work. You could likely get them made at any vinyl signage shop such as fastsigns.

A lot of people don't like running front metal plates which block air and/or look bad. I would hazard a guess that less than a third of Corvette owners run a front plate. Probably the same for other "sports cars".

Or if you run into a cop who wants to enforce the letter of the law...
