Default Chevrolet of Stevens Creek

I see that Momentum Chevrolet is now Chevrolet of Stevens Creek. Their website says they are under new management. I had heard that Chevrolet had owned part of the dealership when it was still Momentum.

Has anyone been there lately to see if there have been any changes?

I was trying to schedule a service with Momentum last month, the service dept usually does not pick up the phone or return voicemails. One time they answered, and the person on the phone said they would call back but never did. After a few times I just gave up, would definitely not recommend that place for such crappy customer service. Hopefully it is better under new management.

It's gone from Courtesy to Momentum and now Chevrolet of Stevens Creek over the past few years.

They've updated their website, which could be a good sign. They're hiring, too.

As I understand it, Chevrolet currently owns the dealership. Under California law, Chevrolet has one year to sell the dealership to an independent owner. I have no idea what an independent dealership is worth.

I was told by one of the staff at C of SC that GM always owned 51% of Momentum which is why it didn't close when Momentum closed their other dealerships.

I purchased my 2008 from Courtesy and while I got a great price the service was horrible concerning issues with the accepted new car conditions. Scratch on window from the dealer prep which wasn't there when I initially inspected the car and dead ants in the headlights area along with a scuff on seat bolster that was also new after the prep. The problem was they couldn't decide who was going to pick up the tab. Eventually I just gave up from all the runaround. Probably should of been more determined but working 12+ hrs a day I didn't have the time.

Google says "Jul 24, 2017 - According to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), the average investment for a franchised dealership, which includes the building and inventory of used vehicles, was $11.3 million per dealership."

I know John Anderson owned it at one point, but I don't know if he changed the name. I believe Anderson had a Chevy dealership in Los Gatos, Cupertino and Menlo Park. I just can't remember what happened when.

There are limits to how many stores someone can own in a region. For example, there's an empty dealership in Los Gatos, and there were rumors about BMW moving in ... we speculated that Penske could do it, and were told that it wouldn't be allowed, even if he wanted to. The law says that an automaker cannot compete against a same-brand dealership within a relevant market area of 10 miles. I don't think Anderson could own both Courtesy and the Los Gatos stores.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details and don't feel motivated to wade through the DMV laws regarding car dealerships.

I'm not sure if Courtesy was previously Anderson or not. I thought it was but changed names when Anderson sold his Anderson dealerships (and thus the name) to AutoNation.

I know another company was in there before Momentum. One of the first things they did was to shut down the Corvette Cafe. I am not sure when Cupertino, Los Gatos and Menlo Park closed.

See, I recall Courtesy was at corner of Winchester and Stevens Creek. Sometime around 1998 they moved to current location at San Thomas.

I think Anderson Chevrolet in Cupertino, which I believe is now a Whole Foods Market, is where I drove a Corvette for the first time. The salesman was kind of pushy and made me nervous.

Well, this article solves some mysteries. Courtesy Chevrolet was owned by GM and the Roulette family, and moved to make room for Santana Row.
