Default Cooling question ( not a vette)

Hey Guys,
My daughter has a 96 Cavalier, it runs hot when ever the radiator cap is on. It's ok when the cap is off...
I've changed the cap and the thermostat..
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in Advance

the cap may be too high of a psi for the motor?

or the flow pressure is too high keeping the thermostat from opening properly. I had that happen with a cheap thermostat and a high flow pump. Is the pump new or was it changed recently?

Another possibility is a pinhole leak causing fluid loss under pressure. Are you losing coolant?

Interesting that you only had one reply on a cavalier ???? :-)
