the corvette is special, the evo is just a car in my opinion
fun to drive maybe but no following and no history and most importantly not the same performance

Are they the ones with the wing thingy on the back? They are so cool! I was stopped behind one yesterday (I think?) the owner had the two kids strapped in back and a load of Home Depot stuff in the trunk. Try that in a Corvette. Also I don't think you can get a 6" single exhaust for the Corvette. It's a tough decision 4 doors/ big wing/ huge noisy exhaust/ lots of stickers/ or a Corvette. Good luck on this one.

are you fkn kidding me? Look up wrc some time.

It's funny how Corvette owners, compared to just about any other car owner, tend to not really know much outside their own field of vision.

They are great perfromers and will smoke a C5 on the street 0-60. They just look like a POS...IMHO

I wouldn't say they look like a pos per se... But it does look like hotwheels designed it.

Rally cars tend to be form-follows-function.

C'mon you're kidding us ....right?? Don't get me wrong an EVO looks nice and probably is quick, due to its favorable power to weight ratio. BUT, its nothing like owning a Corvette.......You can buy a freakin EVO anyday.....a Corvette is just a little more special IMO

A corvette is more special, because there are far more Corvettes than Evos. And you can't buy a corvette any day, apparently. Which day can't you buy a Corvette? Tuesday?

I say go for it, but watch what you spend on it. You are giving up some heritage and some dry performance, but you're gaining a vehicle that can be just as much fun and that you can actually transport people and stuff in. If that's what you need, then that's what you need. As an only car, I'd totally go for an Evo (or prob STI...), esp here in CO where having at least something with 4wd or awd is a good idea. Depends what crowd you're looking to run with too - the majority of vette owners I run into are borderline arrogant 'vette only' types, 50+, proud that their car has never seen rain, and never heard of wrc (too busy watching nascar )

Do what makes you happy, but don't expect too much support from the vette community, esp if your facts are wrong (2000 Z06...)

Well Im sure my 2 cents are useless, but ill throw them in anyway.

The EVO isnt a BAD looking car, but its no Vette. The Vette has a way sexier look to it. So on looks alone Id have to go with the Vette. Plus the Vette does have more of a history and will always be an American icon. I find that the evo crowed always seem to think they have to prove themselves. A kid at work has one and he is always braging to me about how fast his car is and how he could beat me...I just say "wow! I bet it is fast" and let it go. Of course the Vette crowd has these types as well. Maybe with good mods and equal drivers he could beat the Z (I suck at launching this thing!), but if we are talking stock for stock, not a chance!
IMHO its way over priced for what it is. having said all of that, I would love to thrash a WRX or an EVO on the back roads or snow!
