Mazda CX-9

We have a CX-7 Grand Touring. Noticed the other day at the Mazda place that the CX-9's EPA estimates on fuel economy are the same (or very close anyway). The 9 has a N/A V6 instead of the 2.3L Turbo in the 7. If it were my car I would've bought the 9, but since its my wife's DD, she picked it out.
I like the 7 for what it is. But, I still think it is ugly. To me the 9 looks MUCH better.
I don't know if they are comparable as far as comfort. I would assume the 9 has a softer ride and maybe a bit more legroom for the driver & front passenger. We took the 7 on a trip to the Smoky Mountains and back in November. It is a great road trip car. But, it does have what I believe to be a fairly rigid suspension for a crossover. If you want something that rides like a caddy I would imagine that any Mazda won't cut it as they all seem to be more sport oriented.
Having said that, I want to add that Nelson Mazda in Tulsa, Oklahoma has delivered without a doubt the best car ownership experience that I have ever had. They didn't try to screw me on my trade. They offered me exactly what I paid for my '05 Tahoe... and that was with a preset S plan price on the CX-7 (FoMoCo employee discount). Their service department seems to be pretty good as well. I take her car there for scheduled maintenance. The price is reasonable, and they have free Starbucks, donuts, & WiFi.
One thing to watch out for on some Mazdas is that they have an oil filter cartridge instead of a spin-on type filter. On the 7 you have to pull off a cover underneath the engine, and then carefully remove another cover to get the filter out. If you like DIY oil changes, some Mazdas are a PITA compared to other cars.

I bought one about 2 months ago and am VERY happy with it. I have a fully loaded AWD GT. It replaced a Cadillac Escalade, which I sold to a coworker.
Prior to test driving it we had narrowed our choice to a MB GL450, BMW X5, Buick Enclave, and Infiniti QX56. We had not even considered a Mazda, until we noted it won Motor Trend SUV of the Year. One test drive made our minds up, and we took it home an hour later.
It is a blast to drive--definitely Zoom Zoom. Many reviews consider it the best handling CUV available.

Yeah, I hadn't considered it either until I heard about the award(s). And it's a lot cheaper than the MDX, yet with similar features and specs. Even something like the center stack of controls is far simpler on the Mazda. Zoom-zoom, indeed.

Now I know the catch, though - it's based on the Ford Edge platform.
Force-1, does the poor parentage show?

You would probably get much more feedback if this were in the standard Off Topic board. I never knew the "Other Cars" board existed--only came across this thread after searching for CX-9.

Actually that was just a sophmoric dig at Ford products.
I did start in OT but this got moved. Maybe it was the Ford connection?
