Seems like it.

Won't own an automatic car ever again. Just not for me.

So I guess if someone gave you a Ferrari you'd dump it?

It would afford me a nice C6z, and a down payment on a house. There's no way I'd own a Ferrari if it was automatic. NONE. I had an automatic corvette. Sold it to the old man for cheap so I could get my 6spd Z51.

I don't like those newfangled paddle shifters, run-flat tires and traction controls!

There's a reason I drive a 6spd, with non-runflat Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and turn the traction control off everytime I start the car.

Unless a paid mechanic came with it, I'd trade it for a Porsche.

I'm sure 90% of the guys on this forum have never been to a track and for those that have most are all about the 1/4.

You can't take a 440rwhp C5/C6 out to Summit and LEARN to drive. Nor would you want to bump, run off, or end up with the shiny side down in a nice Corvette.

Miatas are the BEST car to learn to drive, cheap to beat up, and at the same time get great gas mileage for DD if you so choose.

I plan to pick one up tonight

I used to pick on a friend of mine for driving a Miata. Then one day he threw me the keys- I didn't wanna give it back- What a blast to drive! Very well balanced. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my Vette for one, but I sure wouldn't mind having one for a daily driver...

What does this have to do with the thread, and why should the Vette be street legally inspected if it's going up against a 70' Nova with all the trimmings?

This makes no sense.

I'm sorry if my reply was out of context ...I always have a problem with car experts that dump on automatics ...Even with the power loss to converters and fluid ..it has been proven time and time again they are still faster shifting than the human foot and arm ...so they usually prevail in so called matched cars ....

I agree that a good automatic is faster than a human with a manual transmission. However, the automatic car becomes completely dull and boring to me personally in the process.

Only my truck is automatic. My boosted c5, my twin turbo rx-7, and my turbo nissan, are all manuals.

Straight line racing is what I prefer and there is such a drop in torque with each manual shift ,you never have the time to recover ..
Plus a bad left knee and a full replacement forced me to change my plans after selling my C6 and stopping my new Zo6 order ..Good luck ..

How long before GM moves in the direction of the dual clutch systems?

I know the tranny in my GTI is the BEST auto tranny I've ever seen. I bet it's a bitch to forge though for high HP apps.
