I want an older car. What's recommended?
Pretty much narrowed down to 67/68 camaro or 65/66 mustang. Must be a convertible and preferably A/C, either factory or aftermarket.
Mustangs seem to be a little cheaper than Camaros but several of each to choose from on flea bay/Hemmings.
Oh yah, would like to hold price to high 20's.
My plan is to take the Wifey on a tour of the old Route 66 in said vehicle.
What's everyone think?

Sounds like tons of fun. You can't really go wrong with either car so all I can really do is give you my personal bias. I'd pick the Camaro because it's a better looking car with a better motor and will gain value faster. Of course if I had my choice I'd get a 427 '68 or '69 Vette.

I have been into muscle cars since they were new on the showroom floor ..We have owned dozens ,,Camaro's..R/T Charger's ,several 64/80 Vettes and new C6..442 OLDS ..YOU GET MY POINT ..
That said ..if I wanted to keep my wife for another 40 years ..I would take her on tour with her new Caddy SRX...
I live and breath cars , but even after total restorations of cars I dissected and reassembled ..they are still old cars ..
At todays speeds and the level of comfort we have come to expect ...unless it is just a quick drive around town ...I will take a new car I can get serviced anywhere when I travel ..
Either way ...I would still opt for a Camaro ...
