Sportauto finally "supertested" the GT-R incl. timed lap on the Ring
First off: I donīt like the looks of the GT-R, but I have to admit I was pretty interested what the undisputedly best german sports car magazine had to say about it.
Well, guess what: They liked it, they liked it a LOT!
Canīt give you all of the article (itīs some 8 pages long...) but just some parts of the summary:
fantastic dynamic properties, small technological wonder how such huge masses can be that sporty, summa *** laude for engine and tranny.
And yes, HvS finally did a timed lap on our beloved Nurburgring:
7:38! Still a far cry from the 7:26 Nissan claimed but none the less mighty impressive if you look at some of the contenders:
all-new Porsche GT3 - 7:40
Porsche turbo - 7:52
Corvette Z06 - 7:49
Looking forward to a test of the ZR1 - as soon as there IS a ZR1 for sale in Germany (no official imports so far )
Well, guess what: They liked it, they liked it a LOT!

You need to consider the amount of seat time Suzuki had opposed to the limited time for the driver of SportsAuto. You can't compare 100's of 100's of laps done by Suzuki given him enough time to familiarize himself with the car and track. When you see the comparison, 12 sec on a 13 mile track is easy to overcome

The ZR1 and Viper ACR times have been out for a while now. Here is an article... and there are numerous videos on YouTube of the cars running the track. The GTR doesnt have a chance against either... by the way they claimed a 7:29 time... not 7:26. Thats a lifetime on a track that is that fast.

To the OP, there are European ZR1's already. Dont know how many are for sale but they are over there.

You might want to look at the Nurburgring lap times again. Nissan has claimed a 7:26. But it is from Suzuki who apparently spends every single day out there with a "stock" GTR to get the best time they can.

Sportauto will not conduct a Supertest until GDR compliant (i.e. German Spec) ZR1's are being sold out of GM dealerships.
There were several privately imported JDM/USDM GT-R's in Germany from as early as April 2008 (USDM a bit later) but Sportauto had to wait until GDM spec GT-Rs were being delivered to their owners, which only started in May this year.
Looking forward to the ZR1's Supertest.
