Default My BMW M6

Hi All,

Here are a few pics of my M6. I'm still very much a Vette guy and would love to get into a convertible GS.

The M has intake and exhaust by ASR. Within the next weeks it will have Evosport headers & pulley. Its pretty quick, specially after 80 mph. Wheels are HRE C20 19".

Very nice. I love the M6. Just dont overdue the styling like the Cali boys. They ruin cars.

Gorgeous machine! Especially in Alpine White. I have a new Alpine White 135i scheduled in April. Its no M6 but a nice companion for my Vette.

Love the M6. Don't over style it as mentioned above.
Just how jerky is the trans at slow speeds in auto mode?

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the kind words! No, I will not "over style" it, I'm more the understated styling type, thats why I went with 19's in stead of the usual 21's people do.

I will try to take some day pics over the weekend. Some guys over at the M board had asked me to post a video of how the exhaust sounded and how loud it is, etc. Here it is - BTW - I suck taking video, but you'll get an idea of how the car sounds.

Hi plaster,

I almost never drive it in auto mode. When I have put it in auto mode its not as bad as the magazines say (neither is iDrive BTW - once you get used to it - its really good, like getting used to an iPhone or Blackberry).

The manual mode has 6 settings with "S6" being the most aggresive trans setting, that's usually where I keep it unless its pouring down rain.

Nice car... what else have you driven and how does it compare? hows the ride and would you take it on a long road trip?

Hey 96SS/80-

Aside from a 98 coupe, 01 Z06, 03vert, 03 Z06 -supercharged by A&A 735rwhp , 05 C6 and an 06 Z06 - also blown by A&A - I have owned / driven a MB CL55, MBCL65, 01 M5 my wife has a 750iL and family has had several SUVs.

As far as absolute power, handling, nimbleness and every aspect of performance the Vettes are my absolute favorite cars! After having 2 blown Vettes - I've been spoiled in the power dept.

BUT - the M6 is a GREAT car - Yes, I would drive it from South Beach to Manhattan Beach if I could! It feels awesome, every button is placed perfectly and DONT believe the car mags on iDrive - once you get used to it, you really like it - like when you first got a Blackberry (of iPhone, etc) frustrating learning curve, then everything kinda falls into place.

The M has plenty of power and the gear changes on the hardest "S6" mode w/o traction control is nothing short of brutal. In stock form it is the equal to my previous non - Z06 Vettes.

It is very comfortable - but is truly a 2 seater as the back seat is there for just-in-case use.

My all time favorites? 06Z, 08M6, 01M5, 03SC'd Z06. Not too much of an MB fan. The 03 CL65 (my friends car) is very fast but I'm just not crazy about it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Nat04Z06 - the wheels actually look killer in person - I also swapped out the front tires so the sidewall is the same the rears and it looks nice.

Beautiful car, and I love the color! I went with the Z4M because I wanted a roadster. You said the M6 was fast in the upper speeds, I find the Z4M to be quicker off the line. It's not as fast as my vette was, but much easier to drive at full pedal than the vette was. The vette required me to down shift in order to get a hard response, yet the Z4M will jump in any gear. I do miss the tourque the LS motor provides, but I would love to drive the M6 to see the difference. Enjoy the M car, they are very sweet machines!

The Z4M is an awesome car, does your car have the TT6 or the inline 6 M engine they used in the previous M3?
My wife had a Z3, but it was the first one BMW made with the 1.8l engine and it was probably the slowest car on the planet - maybe the universe.

On my comment about speed at the upper limit - the M6 is quick off the line, no doubt about it, but once the speed is over 75 to 85 mph it is a rocket! I've had the speed limiter tuned out and the thing pulls really hard through 7th!

In stock form, it kind of has C6 speed from 0-60 and closer (but not quite) to Z06 speed after 100mph.
