Thats correct ..the block also has valve reliefs for bigger head ..a Winters alum intake a 780 Holley ,
I did not go with a solid cam ..I did a roller valve train setup instead ..
Balanced ..blueprinted ..high volume ..high pressure oil pump ..

The L78 396 was an iron head big block; the L89 396 was equipped with aluminum heads.

The 375 horse L78 had aluminum pistons ..and intake manifold..
The L89 the heads ....
