C'mon...they're both built for speed and their racing characteristics. Nothing more nothing less.

Props to Viper for regaining their "King of the Hill" status at Laguna Seca Raceway!!!

PS. I'm a lifetime high performance Vette owner that has never, and may never own a Viper but I certainly have a great deal of respect for them.

Perfect post, athough the ACR is geared more for the track, it is a street car, just like a corvette, what people dont know is that there is all all purpose race viper called the competition coupe, that dodge has sold for years. BTW I own both Viper and 06 Z, brand loyal people are always going to make excuses, tires, illegal splitter , bla bla bla, most of the people who argue are the ones who Zaino their cars every week , and complain about wanting a automatic hatch closer , they read magazines and havent been near a racetrack.fact of the matter is the ZR1 will never beat an ACR Viper around a course, period, get over it already

Is the 2010 viper acr different from the 2009?

Edit- Looks like a revised rear wing, 5th gear ratio, short throw shifter and horrendous paint job.

top speed is now 202 mph, and quicker (it can reach said top speed a whole 14 seconds sooner than the 2009 model). How? Gearing, specifically 5th gear, which has been revised from 0.741 to 0.796. Also, the end caps on the giant wing have been revised, resulting in that higher top end.

That is a pretty dumb thing to say. There are courses that will favor one and some the other. Since we are talking laguna, motortrend's test around the course had the viper at about a half second faster with the same pro driver but different day. Hardly a decisive victory. If the upgrades to the acr for 2010 really helped its lap time then the zr1 needs to be retested too because for 2010 it now has PTM.

honestly, im sure the viper is an insanely impressive animal BUT your comparing it to a car that comes with navigation and heated seats yada yada... Hell, do base vipers even have cup holders? Even if you stripped a zr1 to nothing like the viper and set it up for the track, im not sure if it would win or not, i just know going on a nice trip or for an occasional drive or even daily driving is possible and comfortable with a vette, while still competing with animals like the acr. Holy run on sentence bat man...

thats very ipressive for a car with a full aero package that would fight hard against top speed, just a few mph shy of the ZR1, but I PERSONALLy think the ZR1 has more in it, stock form.

I wont be the one testing it though lol, I quit doing high-speed runs a long time ago, just too dangerous and not fun.

According to this site, the top speed is 184 mph.
http://www.egmcartech.com/2009/11/24...-la-auto-show/

Is that 184 mph with the wing and splitter set to minimum or maximum downforce?

Jim Mero with full GM support, plenty of tires, alignment tweaks, and 6 laps would probably set a very close lap time in a ZR1...

Cupholders you obviously (like many), never sat in a Viper, a car that comes with air power windows etc isnt what I would call stirpped, but yes any model corvette, feels like a caddy in ride, IMO my 06 Z is to numb, I prefer the feel my C5 Z had, but then again im in my early 30's, I like the bumps. point is we are talking about performance, not everyday driving.
