Default The Ultimate Trade!!

The Ultimate Trade

Petroleum tycoon, Carlton Beal Jr., just recently made the trade of all trades at the All American Chevrolet dealership in Midland, Texas.

Beal traded his 2008 red-on-black Bugatti Veyron for a Corvette ZR1!

With 20,307 miles on the odometer, the seemingly new Bugatti Veyron actually matches up well to the ZR1. The Veyron clocks 0-to-60MPH in just 2.4 seconds, reaching high speeds of 253 miles per hour. The ZR1, on the other hand, reaches the 0-to-60 MPH mark in 3.3 seconds and high speeds of 205 miles per hour. Not too shabby.

The only strong difference: cost. A new Veyron runs for $1,600,000, a ZR1 only $107,000. With such a huge cost gap, the dealership wouldn’t accept the Veyron trade-in until they lined up a buyer, which they did.

Overall, in my opinion, Beal was smart in this trade… Not only did he regain some cashflow, but he is also the proud owner of an American-made vehicle that performs nearly as well as his former European ride.

Mr. Beal has now stepped up in the world.

ok, I love corvettes. I've loved them my whole life, but the veyron is on a level so far beyond almost any car in existence. More power to him for wanting a zr1, but I find it insane that he would give up the veyron

Look up the maintenance costs for the Veyron. The annual routine maintenance is $20k, a set of the Michelin PS2 are $38k and need to be replaced every 2500 miles. You have to X-Ray the wheels to check for stress cracks every 4th tire change, and replace any that are failing for $12k each.

The guy is a petroleum tycoon. He probably gets what he wants, when he wants it!! Well, except for maybe some action from his wife.

I gotta say Id pick the ZR1 over the Bugatti. But Im frugal......

Let's look at is this way:
How often will .7 seconds on the 0-60 make a difference?
How often will you go over 205 mph?
What can you think of doing with $1,493,000 that you could not do better with a Vette?

Case closed.

Seems that it was done more for publicity than anything else.

Ferrari is a much better waste of money???!!!!

I have to agree with some of the others. The Veryon is a special car but it is ugly to me. Those maintenance costs are exorbitant to most anyone but the crazy rich. I could find way better ways to spend my money, like the ZR1 for me and ten of my friends.

I think it's cool that he put 20k miles on that Veyron, but he should've preserved the miles on it, and saved the $150k+ on service and bought a ZR1 and kept they Veyron.
