Today I took my01 Vert to my dealer for ATF change and while I was waiting decided to take a walk to ford dealership right across the road to take a look at the new 2011 5.0 Mustang. As usual they came running at me telling how great this cars are etc. I only wanted to look at the car price and specs, and check out the inside. all of sudden the salesman offers me a test drive all the way to the nearest airport(about 10) miles on a straight highway. Well, I was so curious about the car ever since it came out that I decided why not? can't hurt anything. I never drove mustangs before so it seemed like a good opportunity.
I asked him how the 5.0 compared to a 4.6 one and he said "let's drive them both"!! so we took 07 manual first and while I liked the comfort of it I felt that performance wise it was worthless. I accelerated from a stop, from 40, 50,60 and I think that my 06 350Z that I traded for my vert would walk that mustang all over.Then we got into a brand new premium 5.0 also manual, and I spent about half an hour pushing it to the limits. I was impressed, this car makes power in every gear. Pulls so strong that I literally felt the pressure of being pushed into the seat.
I also liked how refined it felt at the same time, clutch was very comfortable, gears shifted so easily, interior was also great.
I will not trade my vert for it but I wish I could afford to have that 5.0 in my garage.
I wander if anybody else here has tried 5.0?
were you impressed?

 

Have not tried one but they are very cool looking cars for sure.
