I sell close to 300 cars a year. If one is an SLK, that's a lot. It's just a dead car for the brand. Most dealers don't even want to stock them if they can help it.

There are a bunch of MB cars I would consider, the SLK just isn't one of them. Good luck with your purchase OP, whatever makes you happy is most important.
As for dealer experiences, I think I have the absolute worst stories to share with treatment, etc from GM. I can officially say I will never buy another vehicle from a GM dealership (Purchased 3 new, and never again)....that doesn't mean I won't own GMs, just sick and tired of being treated like an idiot by there sales and service staff.

Headlight bulb burned out on my S550. I went to the dealer from whom purchased to change it out while getting vehicle serviced. The headlight was then shining 45 degrees down and about 30 degrees too far right. I went back next day and service manager told me MB does that on purpose. We departed each other on very contentious terms. I finally disassembled the front end to replace it myself. I found the service shop failed to fully seat new bulb. I have never found an MB dealership pleasurable. OTOH, I always get follow up calls and surveys about service on GM vehicles. One would think my Duramax is the pinnacle of luxury vehicles. Treated as well as one could ever expect with it.
