I was very surprised to see them on this site as a vendor. I would never do business with Hennessy.

He is also the guy who had the ***** to start a "tuner school" where mechanics would pay a HIM a tidy sum of money to work for him as a mechanic under the guise that he was teaching them the business.
I personally know people who saw his scams first hand. I too am very surprised he is not in jail or dead. I cannot vouch for the validity of the stories, but have have heard through forums that some owners were showing up at his door unannounced with guns in hand.

I don't understand how this guy can be operating what amounts to a chop shop and he's not in jail. If it's really that bad, prosecutors should be investigating him along with the IRS.

He has been on many shows, so I am not sure what to think. I would have to pass his shop in Houston and see for myself.
He was able to close down freeway with help of Texas DPS and drive over 100mph on the Houston tollway.

Saw this story on FB.
Looks like Hennessy might take your money, and not give it back.

You have to give Teflon John credit. He's been ripping people off for nearly 20 years and still going. This will blow over and we will continue to roll our eyes every time there's a magazine article or tv show featuring him.

Here in Houston there are mostly not too many honest shops out there that don't completely rip you off.
Every business man I know is a con-artist or scammer. Yet they are the ones with money in their pockets.
I have my own honest business that I work towards making happy customers and providing an honest and reliable service, the way how my dad tought me. Still struggling to pay my bills because of it. =\

Only slightly off topic, but there was a guy (actually, a friend for a time) in New Jersey in the mid-70s who came up with a different way to scam the world based on C2 Corvettes. His name was Larry Megibow, and he owned a shop called The Glass Car Company. Car and Driver actually ran a couple of articles about his rise and demise, but I can't find them online.
His game was to finance the purchase of a quality C2 (usually 427s), get a duplicate title from New Jersey DMV, and sell the car on the new title, usually at a nice profit. It was an automotive Ponzi scheme. At one point, he had built up enough cash to buy four or five original 427 Cobras, and even one of the Daytona competition coupes.
His world unraveled when a buyer of one his Corvettes, who happened to be a member of a prominent crime family, found out about the title game. Larry went on the lam. somehow ended up in a Canadian prison, and died of a heart attack as he was about to be extradited.

It feels as if his business is a complete shell. I get the feeling he is upside down in his business and has to keep "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" It's a horrible habit that I see happen mainly in Shops that are just opened up. Normally these shops straighten up or they collapse. I just can't understand how he could keep this shell of a business going. Also why hasn't he woke up and realized that he has a business that could be great.
