How 'Bout That.....
Motor Trend, testing the Camaro ZL1 pronounced it better than the Z06....food for thought. Now, I tried to like the Camaro (more towards my price range, the SS); excellent power, great features, real bang for the buck BUT I just couldn't get past the feeling of being in a deep dark place. Between how low you sit and the (lack of a) view out it just was not for me.
Still, I admire Chevy for allowing each vehicle team to design the best they could even though it might cut into sales of other Chevy/GM products......it shows the engineers have a leg up on the bean counters...

I don't know what their criteria were. Why do they think it is "better"? To me it's an apples and oranges comparison. My Silverado Duramax is "better" than a vette because it carries a larger load and it will pull over 20,000 pounds.

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
Tell Motor Trend to check out the General C7 Z06 section of this forum where the Z06 just beat the time of the ZL1 and many other cars posting 7:13 lap time at Nurburgring by Sport Auto and that wasn't even a GM driver time! Sport Auto said it is the 3RD fastest car they tested behind AMG GTR and Porsche 918! Take that Motor Trend. I forgot the Mustang is better than the Corvette according to a recent article by Motor Trend.

C&D said the GT350 was 'better' than the Z51 too. Whatever. Apples/oranges. The cool thing, as mentioned, is there are some really great performance cars out there that are great buys - by multiple OEMs.
There isn't a ton of cross shopping (I know there is certainly some) between a Mustang/Camaro and a C7. Different animals in many ways. Configured correctly, a Mustang/Camaro will hang with C7 variants on a track. But how much of our driving (and driving pleasure) comes from track experiences for most of us?
I personally don't care if versions of a Mustang/Camaro 'outperform' our GS. At this point, I wouldn't consider either and we've owned 28 Mustangs and 7 Camaros.
All three great cars - but only one of them floats my boat. But others like the pony cars better and more power to them!
