Cool design for the mid engine Corvette
This is the upcoming Hennessey hypercar. As soon as I looked at it I thought it was the perfect design for the C8 Corvette though...

I dig it. it also looks at least $185,000 in MSRP, maybe a 'lil more lol

I see La Ferrari, evora and some vette styling cues in that.

I know what you mean.
For some reason the C7 looks very "big" when compared to previous gens.

If Corvette could return to a 3200 lb or a little less weight with a NA 600 hp it would be a home run.
GM could concentrate on light weight smaller sports car with the mid engine and leave the Front GT for those that have to have room for 2 weeks of suitcases or 2 set of clubs.
I am afraid that it will be a large mid rear engine to accommodate the large percentage of folks that insist on have thever ability to carry 2 set of clubs.
One other thing is where do you guys think the targa top will stow? Seem the front end would have to be really long to stow in front? Not sure it would fit horizontally with the strut tower and wheels in the way?
I guess it could lay flat over the engine compartment if the engine was enclosed similar to a Cayman.
Any one have any idea where GM might stow the targa?

I think the C7 has a commanding look. Bold and beautiful. Will be interesting to see how the C8 comes out. After a revolutionary change from C6 to C7, I’m afraid the C8 will not see dramatic change.

That said, I’m confident that we’ll see a very dramatic change from the C7 if the C8 is the ME that has been a myth for decades.

I agree that unless GM make the rear mid engine platform large enough to hold two set of clubs or a or a couple suit cases then the C8 with be another front GT platform.
I really hope GM does not make compromises and try to make the rear mid platform serve as the only Corvette model.
I hope it smaller and lighter and designed for with the form being that of a top of line super car for those of us that want a GM produced rear mid super car and could careless about store for suit cases or golf clubs.
Guys who want it to focus on performance and not try to make it everything to everyone.
The front GT platform can already be ordered IN as MANY AS 20 different models not counting the ZR1.
Give us guys who want a rear mid super car at least 1 dedicated car to our wishes and needs.

Sorry to disillusion you but it's just not going to happen. What you are asking for is a niche vehicle and GM is all about marketing to the largest audience. The majority of Corvette buyers, myself included would not buy a Corvette that will not hold luggage.

I guess that depend on if the C8 is the rear mid platform or a stand alone model.
The buyer who is concerned with luggage space currently has 20 plus options to chose from.
I just don't thing that the rear mid engine and the C8 are one in the same.
Just like you I am guessing and there are plenty of us who don't care about luggage space.
Aside from the Porsche Cayman I don't know if any rear mid engine super cars that have luggage space for 2 set of clubs or multiple suitcases.
I really pray that the rear mid engine is nothing like a Cayman. Some of us want a real super car not some chick car like the Cayman.
But them again I am not in the majority. I surly don't want a rear mid engine that is not top of the line or that can be purchased for 65k.

You are in the minority. GM will do everything it can to bring the ME to market so that it is affordable to the greatest number of people. If they can bring the base trim package to market for $65k or less, you can bet they will.

I think the only reason to go mid rear is the performance factor and the limits of the front GT platform.
Other wise why go mid rear engine if the goal is not to significantly improve performance?
Then is there going to be the latest most technology advanced Corvette sitting next to a Z06 or ZR1 that will run circlea around it?
If not for performance then why go to rear mid engine design at all?

Because they can and it's what the masses are clamoring for. It's all about bottom line. They will sell damn near every single one they can produce that first 6/9 mos before the head rush tapers. The Ohh ahh crowd will gladly fork out the coins, just as they did for the initial run C7.

I just hope I am right and that it's a true Halo Vett and not the next generation. The only way I pass is if it's performance is at least not comparable to the current Z06.
Otherwise the newest Corvette will be out performed by its little brother Camero ZL1 and two Vettes from the previous gen. C7 Z06 and ZR1.
That to me would be a massive dissapointment.
I think that guys with C7 Z06 or ZR1 or any of the Callaway Vette are not going to rush in to purchase a car with lesser performance.
Just my opinion. I am really hoping that we see the front GT platform as the C8 and the rear mid as a halo Vett no different than the current ZR1.
I am also tired of waiting. Come on GM show us what we have to look forward too!!

You are very correct that I along with most other Z06 owners will not bail just to have a ME C8. Especially the first MY of production. I will can and will wait. Right now, I'm waiting on a new Tahoe RST with the performance package to get built. At least it won't have to go very far to get to me. The plant is in Arlington, TX and so is my servicing dealer.
