It’s sounding more and more that Cadillac will have a version of the ME car as well.

Shouldn't cost much for Cadillac to restyle the rear mid engine corvette, drop in a torque converter automatic 10 speed....then slather the interior with leather and carbon fiber ...
Considering the 550 hp twin turbo new Cadillac v8 is being hand assembled in bowling green corvette plant...it seems logical Cadillac adds in a small run of rear mid engine suoercars to its lineup....
I don't expect the Cadillac to sell very many ....but it's cool

Tadge dropped a huge hint, also, when he said there would be no ME Corvette.

Sorry, I just don't see how have an ME car does anything for the Cadillac brand when SUVs and CUVs are what the public is buying more and more of. However, I do see the Corvette being its own brand ala Porsche and Jaguar.

The Escala has already been announced, previewed and approved for production. We have seen the car(at least the concept car).
He is talking about a product that has not been announced, previewed or approved for production(that is why he is so vague about the details).
He also said they will be offering a bunch of additional products in the near future, but he is short on details about them. A ME sports car could be one of those many future offerings.
Also, the 4.2L TT V8 was also revealed at the same time the Escala was revealed as it was reported that the 500 HP version would be in the Escala(which is based on the CT6 platform, but lengthened).

It would not surprise me, if no sooner than 2022 Cadillac has an electric sports car (that borrows majorly from the 2020 ME Corvette). I have posted this for a long time.
Though I totally agree that there are others’ posts above, that if we carefully read what was said, de Nysschen did not by his exact words define that vehicle as only a sports car.

If Cadillac wants to be in the same league as BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, they have to convince the world that they are capable of playing in the big leagues. And that means sports cars.
Notice that as BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche have upped their sedan and SUV offerings, they have not discarded their sports car to the dumpster. It's all part of the all important image.
For the past 50 years, Cadillac has been viewed as just a rebadged Chevrolet(rightfully so). They have to shed image in order to appeal to the people that are paying big bucks for their BMW's, Mercedes's, Audi's and Porsche's.

I believe it has more to do with Cadillac playing 'catch up' with the German auto manufacturers who do offer sports cars in their product mix.

What legacy could Cadillac possibly point to that would give it legitimacy in the realm of sports cars? The Allante? The XLR? Not to mention a dealer body with no experience servicing such a car.
Sorry. Been there done that. Bigger fish to fry for Cadillac.

I don't see that at all. Gm has shrunk the number of brands over the years, not expanded them.

You would think that if Cadillac is going to have a ME car that they would have them out running around too for testing? It makes sense to use both nameplates to spread the cost but the last time they did it, Cadillac XLR and Vette things did not go to well. My father had a red XLR and loved the car but did not sell in very large numbers, back then I think it sold for $76,000 which was much more than the vette too...

Tadge lies. We know this. I don't fault him for that, as long as the cars he shepherds continue to excel.
The only thing the world needs less than another large-box conventional sedan is another mid-engined supercar. But okay.
Still, a variant of a mid-engine Corvette will not stun anyone.
So, consider the possibility that any sighting of a bowtie or crossed flags or twinned taillamps on the mid-engine test cars is pure misdirection -- that only Cadillac gets the mid-engine chassis.
However, it's quite a corporate indulgence to maintain a front-engine Corvette, a mid-engine Cadillac, and the Camaro as razor-sharp highly-competitive sports cars. They have limited bandwidth for powertrain and chassis development and tuning, which must be applied across the entire GM catalog.
I still think the front-engine Corvette will fade away and Cadillac's halo will be electric.
It's also possible that de Nysschen considers the future CT6-based crossover his halo vehicle, at least the V variant. But I bet that's just a backup plan.
