Default Looks like Porsche really wants my business. Trackday Invite

I opened my mailbox yesterday and thought it was just an advertisement from a local Porsche dealer. Turns out it’s from Porsche USA and they want me to drive their cars on the track. I bought my 18 zo6 in Jan of 18 and I love it. I did the Ron fellows school. Porsche has their fan boys but whenever I look at one it still reminds me of the the VW Beetle at a higher price point. That being said I would like to drive their cars on the track since I got this invite. I have a feeling all those cars will disappoint me compared to my z06 especially since I paid $78k for a $89570 zo6 2lz with pdr. Thoughts?

Don't be surprised if you only get a few laps. The "Driver Experience Rotations" are your clue that you'll be standing around a lot while they rotate through the attendees. Obviously, it depends upon how many they invite, and I suspect every event will have 50-60 people. It will be nothing like Spring Mt., but, of course, it's free. I've been to these things before, and you don't have a chance to really evaluate the car, but it's better than a street test drive.

The only car that I think will compete in performance with probably be the GT2 RS and that is something I cant afford. When I look at these cars (yes I better the better quality craftsmanship but its amazing the performance my 18 z06 gives me that had an MSRP of $89,570 that I paid $78k.

We just bought a Macan. Porsche makes a nice car - fit and finish are very nice. Seats are gorgeous. Switchgear is precise. Cost for parts and maintenance are outrageous. It's fun to keep an open mind and enjoy something different in life - just because it isn't your preference (or in your budget) doesn't make it wrong.

The only one? The GT2 RS will utterly humiliate your Z06. Corvette bias is hilarious in this thread.

My point is that in order for me to get similar performance in a Porsche I’ll have to shell out $300k or so instead of the $78k I spent on the zo6. The regular 911 doesn’t even come close in performance despite being substantially more expensive.

Corvette bias? I had to look again and yes this is a Corvette forum so I would think there is a lot of Corvette bias probably on every thread. I know this is a section to discuss other cars but we are here because we are Corvette fans first and foremost. I'm sure that if I were to go on a Porsche forum there would be no Porsche bias anywhere.

Was able to put some miles on my brother's 911. Fantastic car. Not sure why you would turn down an opportunity to experience one for yourself. You might be surprised. There is a reason people spend 2X, 3X, 4X or more than the price of a Vette and it's not all just Porsche bias. While his is no longer in his garage it was great to get some seat time in it while he had it.

I have been a little upset at my 18 z06 with minor issues like the bumper not aligned properly which damaged the paint (although Chevrolet replaced the bumper for me free of charge) and the Targa top sqeaked initially until they tinkered with it I do feel suprised at the amount of performance you get with a car that was $89,570 MSRP and I paid $78k for it. I mean look at the numbers below. A $188k 911 Turbo S is 2.2 seconds SLOWER than the z06 on the track. Sure the dealerships are much nicer, customer service is amazing and the leather, body panels and everything else is perfect but thats a massive premium you are paying for that german engineering porsche logo.

I'm confused. It seems you asked a question about whether or not you should drive the cars for free and most are saying yes, go do it. I don't own a Porsche but have driven one. They are world class drivers cars. You seem a bit too hung up on their prices and a chart showing lap times. A lap time at any track only establishes a single data point on which nobody coming in off the street should ever base their purchasing decision on.
