Default Al Gore running Tesla?

Leading Tesla analyst Gene Munster suggested on Monday that former Vice President and climate change crusader Al Gore replace Elon Musk as chairman of the embattled electric car company.

Speaking for myself, can't think of a worse choice. Now Al can say he invented the internet and electric cars.

I doubt that would happen. Considering the cash reports of Tesla and the stock scare shareholders will likely be looking for someone that can bring some sort of foreseeable monetary profit on the books to the company. Musk has had to inject a lot of his own cash to keep Tesla afloat and a chairman that can lead the company to a solid profit statement would mitigate shareholder and investor worries. I don't know how long that would take to happen or if it can actually happen but Musk has put the company into that position.

If anything Tesla will likely bring in either a seasoned auto brand veteran or someone who has experience running a similarly large company/corporation.

I believe whomever Tesla brings in will realize a lot of their business models themselves is what is making them bleed cash; forcing authorized repairs through Tesla, subsequent parts and aftermarket through Tesla, etc. Musk was quoted at one point that - I'm paraphrasing a bit - he didn't want Tesla owners "modifying their cars", which is somewhat hilarious to me considering that most everyone, even the lowest of gear heads, do some sort of modifications to the car(s) they own. It was basically a way of saying "I don't want to relinquish control of the car in any form." Tesla will eventually realize it's not wise to try and completely control every single aspect of their cars, even through aftermarket, since it forces the OEM to maintain a quo for every model they create. It's ok right now for Tesla, but would be ridiculous for say Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, etc, to do.
