2019 Ecoboost Mustang as a DD?
Interesting offer has come into my life recently and looking for opinions
Velocity Blue
Performance Pack 1
101A Equip group
Safety Security Package
Magneride
6spd
29k out the door w/ 5k down
Car actually drove amazingly well, I was super impressed with it. Lots of neat features, and plenty of power for what it is. Enough power to be fun and docile. Does anyone have an S550 Mustang? Gripes? I have a couple from the test drive, but Cobb can fix most of them for under $2k

Had a ton as rentals. Overall a decent sporty daily. To be honest, that price seems li,e a lot for a 4 banger mustang.

How long are you planning keeping it ? I would worry about the life expectancy of that engine under daily thrashing. Too bad they discontinued the V6, it was just as fast and cheaper as well.

I drive about 30k/yr. I'd prob keep the Mustang until its about to turn 100k, unless I absolutely fall in love with the car on a daily basis and decide to drive it forever. My MR2 is at 259k, for example. The Mustang would be replacing my Buick Regal GS because the Regal is wrong wheel drive, wrong transmission, paint is failing and the torque converter lacks a pressure plate. I like American cars, but the Nissan dealer is trying hard to get my into a 370z for right at 15k, so I am still cross shopping. The "on paper" econ of the Ecoboost is attractive. Betters my Buick by a solid 10%, and the Buick is beating its own EPA numbers right now

I have had the same thought as the OP should they move my office about 35 miles. My truck would NOT be a daily at that point.
370Z is a good ride though long in the tooth.
What year/miles on the 370Z?

2014, 40k: dont know the option package or anything about it really. Silver on black M6 car. Theres a lot of wiggle room, they were asking 18k and pretty much with 0 pressure immediately came down to 15k so I'd guess there is another 1-2k to go down. Need to look at private sales to see where its falling price wise across the market

for the option/build its about 5k under MSRP, about $200 over invoice. New cars are just... too much. MSRP on a 0 options I4 is just under 27k

Agreed on the MPG's. If you're into the boost at all you may as well have a V8. It will return better than the V8 but not THAT much. And I would put my money on a 150k mile 5.0 before that turbo 4.

how would you guys suggest I check real world MPG? Looking on fuely, looks like the Ecoboost is reporting ~25mpg (unknown conditions; peaks at ~29mpg), which is almost 20% better than the Buick on my commute. Being mostly freeway and being a turbo car, the VE will be nice on the highway. I'd expect to see 30+ on the highway. The city is where she will be hurting, with le boost
And no V8. Insurance is $40/mo more, I'd be lucky and have to baby it to get 20mpg (fuely reporting basically 18, with some outliers) mixed and the car is pretty close to $10k more OTD. Ecoboost or bust, in this case

I test drove an ecoboost and loved it, just not enough to purchase it. For the price, you could get one year old GT.

I am in NM, bought my MR2 in Orange County, CA; 2015. That was an awesome drive. Flew in, uber'd to car, bought car, popped off the tops and drove to the coast
Keeping the MR2 and Z06, inside and safe. Looking for a daily beater that isnt so beat, but has rwd and manual
but, hello!
And still no V8 for me, not for this purpose

Yin and yang over here! My Z06 is silver. Digging the 94+ tail and the condition of the paint on your girl! Mine needs a repaint, and some body conditions fixed; but she is a solid 10' car
Interesting tail on there too, its just an upper replacement for the 91-93 wing isnt it?

Looking to improve fuel Econ, not maintain (barely) or make it worse
I have a turbo 4 car, it's old and reliable, I'm not worried. I daily drove a G8 GT, I'm not interested in having to baby another V8 or pay the insurance premium
not having a V8 is not a gripe of mine about that car

The EcoBoost mustang is a hella fun car. I test drove one just for the hell of it when I was shopping for my GT350. I have an RS with the same motor, just a bit more power, and it’s so much fun. I average 22.5 mpg according to Fuelly.

Theres news that a performance 4 banger version is going to come out. This will have the same engine as the Focus RS.
I bet that would be a killer car, I wonder how much lighter the focus RS motor is compared to the coyote. If its 200lbs that will bring the weight of the mustang down to 3400lbs. (thinking near base model, rear seat delete and mods).

These cars are complete crap. do NOT buy one.
No, seriously if you don't mind the ride they are one of the best daily drivers you can buy and get real world decent gas mileage.
45k hard miles and zero return trips to the dealership.
