My dad recently gave me this 1970 C10 that he bought new in 1970. This is the very first vehicle I ever drove and learned to drive in. He daily drove this truck for 30 years and then when I turned 18 and bought my first performance car he bought the truck I was driving at the time and parked the 70 in his shop. It has sat there ever since now he is retired from a 43 year career in auto body so we decided it was time to do something with it. We are going to split the price to repair/restore and he put my name on the title. He will keep it and enjoy and one day it will be mine. We havent decided how we want to proceed yet but the 13th of December I am on vacation for 20 days and we plan to start evaluating then. Step one is to clean out his junk storage shop to get some room to work. We plan to take it out and wash/clean it up the put it back in the shop and put on jack stands. The engine will either need rebuilt or replaced depending on the condition of it. The engine had been rebuilt about 30 years ago and the block was bored .030 over at that time. We plan to put disk brakes at least on the front if not all around. I am leaving it to him to decide if he wants to frame off or just get it safe and running and a paint job. The interior will need to be repaired/replaced as well and we want to put just some factory rally wheels on it. We want to get rid of the headache rack, bed rails and brush guard. Should be a good time and we can make even more memories with the truck. Here are some pics of the truck as well as my Z06. Excuse the mess in the shop!
I love the factory paint scheme. I would definitely keep that look!!! I would also suggest doing a LSX engine such as the LS3, do a cam swap with a nice exhaust. You'll have plenty of power and it will sound amazing. Pair it up with with a 6 speed auto or manual (manual would be my choice). Don't skimp on the brakes, do a nice 4 wheel disc setup with some quality suspension components. Rally wheels will look good on that thing!!!

As an LS3 goes it is a good idea but my dad wants to keep it as original as possible and I am good with that. Also I want to keep the three speed "3 on the tree" since that is what I learned on. Its nre of a sentimental thing I guess. We do want to keep it Hugger orange and white for sure and I agree a set of Rally wheels would look best on it.
Thanks!
Awesome truck! I have a 67 C10 long bed and have always liked this generation of the trucks. That is a keeper for sure and its great that it has always been your dads.
