Over sticker not just for C8's
Tried to buy a Mercedes Sprinter cargo van yesterday. 2021 w/MSRP around 55k, plus 5k ADM, take it or leave it. I left it.
Read a comment last night when searching for trucks that a fellow had purchased 2 truck tractors last year for $115k each. He went to order 2 more this year from the same dealer but the price was $205k each with a 14 month wait. The dealer also offered to buy back his one year old trucks for $175k each. Crazy times.
I guess inflation is getting it's legs now...BOHICA!

Funny, I had Sprinter that was basically new, 4500 miles, had the desirable diesel motor, high roof, this was about 8 months ago and while I did sell it and made a couple of bucks, it sat for about 60 days. I have been paying 30-40-50% more for units (used). in truth, considering what is going on, that's really not that awful. I am tacking it on and margins are still good, but its def tougher to land units. In fact I went way out of my area today to grab a car. Gotta keep the pipeline flowing! : )

I bought 2 4Runner TRD's last month. There is no dealer inventory but there are unit on the ship available. My local dealer wanted 10-12K over MSRP depending on color. I drove 300 miles and bought both at MSPR.

I traded in my 2021 Jeep Wrangler on Monday and ordered a new one. They took mine now and gave me exactly what I paid new. Then they discounted my new order.
The dealer was so happy to do the deal that I think I got ripped off! I got what I paid after 11,500 miles! Weird.

Some dealers are still willing to negotiate. I needed a car for the winter months and found a Nissan Rogue online at my local Nissan dealer's website. They called me back after entering my info on their website and advise they were charging $2500 over sticker. I told them I was a local repeat customer as I purchased from them back in 2015 and would take the Rogue that night if they charged no more than sticker. After some back and forth (let me talk to my manager) routine. I did the deal over the phone in 5 minutes and picked the Rogue up a couple of hours later. There were 3 days left in the month and I know dealers have quotas to make so that was in my favor as well.

Yep. In fact, the Fed Chair recently said it's time to retire the word "transitory" when referring to inflation.
But as a result of a singular event that I won't mention, I don't think anyone is in the least bit surprised this is happening. I saw it coming a country mile away. Call me crazy, but it takes a lot of very careful planning to create the magnitude of the current crisis the world is now contending with.

Its a catch 22, they will be manufacturing the car for many years so have to weigh out the pricing considering there will most likely be a return to normalcy. If they base it on current market conditions, they could wind up overpricing for future. My guess is that it will fall in line with historic pricing (GM is in the long game) and the dealers will be the recipients of the market windfall assuming the crazy continues. That said. You never know, with Biden at the wheel, there is always a chance things will go south and the ZO6 is still a ways off.

I have seen GM lower the MSRP in the past on 2019 Corvettes, so setting the Z06 at market price at intro isn't a kiss of death for future sales. Once the market cools off and the supply catches up to demand ... the depreciation will kick in causing big losses to folks who paid the big ADM price to own the Z06. Oh well, we are all speculating right now, but that's what my Crystal ball is telling me.

We went to a local Subaru dealer on black Friday. Looking to get a new daily driver. They wanted $3200 over MSRP (approx. 10%). Also a 3 month wait. We walked out. They couldn't care less.
No deals on new or used cars anywhere.

People are paying 10k over sticker for Kia Tellurides. That's the real issue beyond the inflation, money is worth even less if you can't buy anything with it.

The market will correct. Always does. When? Who knows, but soon would be nice for all of us.
This is beyond out of control. GREED.
Also, people, STOP OVERPAYING. The sooner that happens, the sooner things correct!
I was trying to find an econobox as a cheap lease and no one wanted to play ball. Cheapest was a base Jetta for $279 per mo. I leased a 2017 Jetta for $169. I passed. Tried to lease the new Ford Maverick truck. Over $500 per month at more than 1 dealer! LMAO HARD PASS. Under $200 per mo w/zero down and I'm in if it's something I like. Thankfully, I don't need to buy a car right now. Feel bad for normal people that need a car to get around right now. Getting screwed.

Consider the alternatives.... Right now the automakers are making money hand over fist and have consumer begging for cars. If they just... Don't improve the supply of vehicles, they all make more money.
I don't necessarily think that will happen, because the first automaker to push product out en masse will make the money off the inflated prices, but I also recognize they have no real incentive to boost production. Certainly not to boost stock prices, theyre all valued at less than companies they're invested in. Ford owns 12% of Rivian, and that 12% of Rivian is worth nearly 20% of what ALL Of FORD is valued at.

I was offered 61k for my 2020 Power Wagon by the local Ram dealer. I paid 51k for it with a 57k sticker in 2020. Local Ford dealer is at 5k over sticker on everything and the local Chevy guy pretty much has zero new vehicles.

My new ram 3500 limited diesel just got delivered to the dealer after like a 6 or 7 month order time. Wound up getting 11,500 off sticker and was kinda debating about trying to just sell it for sticker and ordering another one and/or just grabbing a mid level 1500 off the lot with the 9k discount.
